The University of Fort Hare is currently inviting undergraduate and postgraduate applications from both South African and international students for the 2027 academic intake, with applications opening on May 1, 2026. UFH 2027 Applications Deadlines
Fortunately, for those who are unable to apply online, the University of Fort Hare will make the 2027 application form available starting May 1, 2026. Applicants are required to download the form, complete it, and attach all relevant documents, including proof of application fee payment, before submitting it by the specified deadline.
Closing Dates:
- South African applicants: October 31, 2026
- International students: September 30, 2026
- Postgraduate candidates: Closing dates vary by faculty
What is the UFH Application Form?
The University of Fort Hare application form is a paper-based or PDF version of the online application. Prospective students who wish to apply manually can download the form, complete it in ink, and submit it along with the required supporting documents via the mail address.
For the 2027 application cycle, the form will be made available online from May 1, 2026.
UFH Application Fee Requirements For 2027
All application forms must be accompanied by proof of payment of the non-refundable application fee of R120, either in the form of a receipt or a bank pay-in slip. This requirement applies to all first-time applicants, undergraduate and postgraduate, as well as both domestic and international ones applying to the University of Fort Hare.

Required Documents For Application 2027
Attach the following documents to your fully completed UFH application form:
UFH Undergraduate Requirements
- Identity Document
- Marriage Certificate (if applicable)
- Original Proof of payment of application fee
- Grade 11 Final Results and Term 1 Grade 12 Results (If you are currently doing matric)
- Matric Certificate
- SAQA clearance certificate (all undergrad nursing students)
- Academic Record, including proof that the Certificate of Conduct has been requested from the previous University / University of technology if you had registered at another institution
UFH Postgraduate Requirements
- A certified copy of your ID or passport is required.
- Authenticated copy of your National Senior/Matric Certificate, O/A Levels, or other relevant school leaving qualification or certificate.
- If you are an international applicant, you must provide proof from universities in South Africa (previously known as HESA) that you are eligible for admission to degree studies at South African universities. Refer to the undergraduate prospectus for more information.
- If you attended other universities, please provide certified copies of your degree certificate(s), academic record, and certificate of conduct.
- International applicants from non-English-speaking countries must provide proof of their English proficiency.
- If the previous qualification(s) were obtained at a foreign university, the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) evaluates them outside South Africa.
- If you are applying for a Masters or PhD, submit a research proposal or proposed title for your dissertation or thesis.
How To Apply to the University of Fort Hare for 2027
- Submit your application form and all the necessary documentation, including the application fee, before the closing date.
- An SMS will be sent to you informing you of the status of your application, followed by a letter of confirmation.
- Current matriculants who qualify based on their Grade 12 mid-term performance are provisionally admitted pending the submission of their final matric results and subject to the availability of space.
- Successful applicants will receive an admission letter together with a registration guide that reflects the registration dates and orientation programme. It is important to note that all applicants who wrote the National Senior Certificate (NSC) are required to write the National Benchmark Test (NBT) before they are allowed to register for their first year at the university.
- Email your fully completed application with all the required documents (proof of application fee payment, proof of residence fee payment, ID copy, and results) to applications2026@ufh.ac.za.
