The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) Management would like to inform all interested and qualified applicants that they can apply for financial support (Loan and Bursary) for their tertiary education for the 2024-2025 academic year. This application window is only available for a limited time. To avoid disappointment, applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.

Nsfas Closing Dates For 2024/2025
The Closing date for all submissions to be done is 31 January 2024. Applications after this date will be rejected by the Scheme for consideration. Students may resubmit after withdrawing their application as long as they resubmit before the closing date for 2024.
Who is eligible for funding?
For 2024 applications, the following category are eligible to apply for funding
- All South African citizens
- All SASSA grant recipients qualify for funding
- Applicants whose combined household income is not more than R350 000 per annum
- A person with a disability: Combined household income must not be more than R600 000 per annum
- Students who started studying before 2018 and whose household income is not more than R122 000 per annum.
Can you apply if you do not have a phone number?
: NO
You will need the following documents to apply for NSFAS funding.
- Smart Devices that work, such as tablets, smartphones, and computers
- A working cellphone number
- The email address that is active
How can I apply for nsfas funding online?
step 1: Login Information
- Get access to the internet
- Enter www.nsfas.org.za and locate the myNSFAS button
- Click on this tab to open the application page for you to begin
Step 2: myNSFAS Accout
- Applicants are to create an account in order to access the myNSFAS portal. Click Here to Create your Account
Step 3: Apply Now
- Complete the sections on the screen by clicking on the Apply Tab
Step 4: Required Documents and submit an application
- Upload required supporting documents where applicable and click on ‘Submit’
Documents Supporting The Online Application Process That Must Be Uploaded
As part of the application process, all applicants must submit these documents. If your application contains forged or invalid documentation, it will be deemed invalid and ineligible for funding. These documents must be properly formatted before submission. Because of COVID-19, uncertified documents are also accepted.
- Copy of your ID or birth certificate
- ID copies of parents, guardians or spouse of an Applicant
- An Applicant must provide proof of income or 1 year’s IRP5 (if applicable)
- Applicant’s parents, guardian or spouse’s proof of income
- If an applicant is a SASSA grant recipient, no proof of income will be required
- An applicant with a disability must submit a completed and signed Disability Annexure A Form, the form is accessible online.
- An applicant who is recognized as a Vulnerable Child by the Department of Social Development must provide a completed and signed Vulnerable Child Declaration and Consent Form.
