The University of the Western Cape is now accepting applications for the 2026 academic year. Given how well-known this university is and the volume of applications they receive each year, you must apply by the deadline. The deadline for applications is September 30, 2025. When is the UWC application deadline for 2026?

The University of the Western Cape has opened its application window for 2026 to all individuals as of April 1, 2025.

General Application Deadline: September 30, 2025—don’t miss this crucial date for most programs.

Early Bird Deadlines:

August 31, 2025: Bachelor of Dentistry & Oral Health, School of Government postgraduate degrees
July 31, 2025: BA Honours Sports Recreation & Exercise Science, BA/BSc Honours Biokinetics
Transfer Students: Apply by September 30, 2025, if you’re coming from another institution.

Is there an application fee?

That is excellent news! For applicants in 2026, UWC waives all registration and application fees. There is no application fee for the 2026 academic year at the University of the Western Cape.

What documents do I need for UWC admission?

These documents must arrive at the university as soon as possible before the application deadlines for 2024 admissions.

Certified copy of your NSC Certificate or Senior Certificate
A certified copy of your Identification document
Certified Certificate of good conduct from your current or previous institution
Certified Official Academic Transcript
Module content / Yearbook descriptor from your institution for all modules completed
Certified Degree certificate (if applicable)

Minimum Requirements for UWC Admission

Minimum Requirements

A National Senior Certificate (NSC) Bachelors pass—an achievement rating of 4 (sufficient success 50–59 percent) or better in four courses chosen from the recognized 20 credit NSC subjects (known as the specified subject list)—is the minimum entry requirement.

System of UWC Points

UWC uses a weighted approach to calculate points for admission to degree and diploma programs. A minimal number of points must be obtained in order for a candidate to be admitted to degree programs.
