The University of Venda (UNIVEN) is welcoming future students! The university’s admission portal is now open to anyone who wants to join them for the 2025–2026 academic year, starting April 1st, 2024. Applications close on September 27th, 2024, so don’t delay! Applicants for Admission in 2025-2026

Current South African Applicants
- Applicants in South Africa who are currently in grade 12 can apply through the UNIVEN website’s online application procedure. E-mail applications will not be accepted.
Previous Applicants
- Students who have previously applied through the online system must download the application form from the website and send it to Student Administration together with all other needed papers and proof of payment. Remember to reference your ID number on the payment proof.
International Applicants
- If you are a foreign student, please consult the UNIVEN website’s international student information pamphlet or call our International Relations and Partnerships Department at +2715 962 9347/9348.

Prior to Submitting an Online Application
To apply online, you must first have the following:
- South African identification number,
- Cell phone number,
- Active Email address,
- Credit or debit card with a CVV number to pay the application fee online.
How to Apply to UNIVEN for 2025
Here are the steps to apply to the University of Venda (UNIVEN) for the 2025 academic year or intake
Access the Application Portal:
- Visit the Univen application website: https://www.univen.ac.za
- Click on “How to Apply” in the top menu.
Create a PIN:
- Establish a 5-digit PIN that will serve as your login credential for the student portal upon admission.
Upload Required Documents:
Prepare the following documents in the university-specified format:
- Copy of ID or passport
- Grade 11 report or statement of grade 12 results
- Copy of Matric Certificate (if applicable)
- Scan and upload these documents.
Pay the Application Fee:
- Remit the non-refundable application fee of R100.
- Note: You can save your progress and return later to complete the application process.
Submit Your Completed Application:
- Thoroughly review your filled-out application form and uploaded documents.
- Click the “Submit” button to finalize your application.
- Upon successful submission, you’ll receive a student number.

- Your identification card or passport
- Your Grade 11 final (December) results, stamped by the school
- If you are a current student at another institution of higher learning, only your academic record will be considered.
- Academic record and certificate of good conduct (if you have already studied at a tertiary institution).
- Copy of study/residence permit, medical insurance, or SAQA Evaluation Certificate (if you are an international applicant).

Degree Qualification
- National Senior Certificate (NSC): as certified by the Council for General and Further Education and Training (Umalusi) with an achievement rating of 4 (adequate achievement, 50-59%) or better in four subjects chosen from the recognized 20-credit NSC subjects. In addition, applicants must have a minimum point score of 26. A grade 12 certificate with a bachelor or matric exemption is required if grade 12 has been achieved.
Diploma Qualification
- The minimum admission requirement is a National Senior Certificate (NSC) as certified by Umalusi with an achievement rating of 3 (moderate achievement, 40-49%) or better in four recognized NSC 20-credit subjects.
