The University of Venda’s undergraduate application is currently open to everyone for the academic year 2025-2026.

The University of Venda’s online application portal for undergraduate programs commencing in the 2025–2026 academic year is now open. Eligible candidates are invited to submit their applications through the website www.univen.ac.za by September 30, 2024.

Undergraduate first-year students who have already applied for 2025 can now check the status of their final application based on their matric results. In other words, academic performance is more important than first-come, first-served at the University of Venda (UNIVEN).

The University of Venda (UNIVEN) invites applications for the 2025–2026 academic year. All programs, including undergraduate, postgraduate, RSA, and non-RSA, are open for applications in 2025–2026. The deadline for submissions is September 30, 2024.

Prospective students are strongly encouraged to apply online before the closing date to avoid missing out. This applies to both undergraduate and postgraduate applicants.

UNIVEN 2025 Undergraduate Application Documents (Required)

All documents must be certified copies. Double-check the application deadline and submit your complete application well in advance, together with the following:

General Requirements:

  • Application fee: Proof of payment for the required application fee.

South African Applicants:

  • ID: Certified copy of your South African identity document.
  • Academic records: Certified copy of your final Grade 11 results or any Grade 12 results.

International Applicants:

  • Identification: Certified copies of your passport, proof of permanent residence, or identity document.
  • Academic records: Certified copies of your school results.
  • Previous studies (if applicable): Original academic record and certificate of conduct (if previously enrolled at another institution), certified copies of other qualifications.
  • Additional documents: SAQA education certificate (for international qualifications) and HESA for National Diploma students.

Transfer Students:

  • Previous studies: Diploma/ Degree, Academic Transcript.
  • Identification: Identity Document.
  • South African qualifications: National Senior Certificate.
  • Proof of residence: Proof of your current address.

How to apply for undergraduate studies at University of Venda

Follow these easy steps to apply for the University of Venda (UNIVEN) undergraduate courses for the 2025–2026 intake:

Step 1: Access the Application Portal

  • Head to the UNIVEN application website: https://www.univen.ac.za
  • At the top of the menu, click on “How to Apply.”.

Step 2: Create Your PIN

  • Generate a 5-digit PIN that will serve as your login PIN on the student portal after admission.

Step 3: Prepare Your Documents

  • Gather all required documents in the university’s specified format. You can find the list on the website or contact the Admissions Office for clarification.

Step 4: Pay the Application Fee

  • Pay the non-refundable R100 application fee. Don’t worry; you can save and resume your application at any point during the process.

Step 5: Submit Your Application

  • Carefully review your completed application form and uploaded documents.
  • Click the “Submit” button to finalize your application and receive your student number.

  • Submit your application well before the deadline to avoid missing out!

University of Venda Admission Criteria

Degree Qualification

  • National Senior Certificate (NSC): as certified by the Council for General and Further Education and Training (Umalusi) with an achievement rating of 4 (adequate achievement, 50-59%) or better in four subjects chosen from the recognized 20-credit NSC subjects.
  • In addition, applicants must have a minimum point score of 26. A grade 12 certificate with a bachelor or matric exemption is required if grade 12 has been achieved.

Diploma Qualification

  • The minimum admission requirement is a National Senior Certificate (NSC) as certified by Umalusi with an achievement rating of 3 (moderate achievement, 40-49%) or better in four recognized NSC 20-credit subjects.
