UFS Online Application 2026 Now Open

The University of Free State (UFS) invites all interested and qualified applicants to submit their applications for the 2026 academic year, as they are officially open for the 2026 application season. Don’t miss out! Apply early to ensure your spot.

UFS Application Dates and Deadlines

2026 Application Opening Date

  • 1 April 2025: Applications open for undergraduate programs on the Bloemfontein and Qwaqwa campuses.
  • 1 July 2025: Applications for Access Programmes (AP) and programs on the South Campus begin.

Deadlines to Remember:

  • 31 May 2025: Closing date for MB ChB, Occupational Therapy, Optometry, Physiotherapy, Radiation Sciences.
  • 31 July 2025: Closing date for Architecture, Biokinetics, Dietetics, Nursing, Social Work, and Sport Coaching.
  • 31 August 2025: All Access and non-selection courses, including International Undergraduate applications, will be closed for 2026
  • 30 September 2025: The application will generally be closed

How to Apply to UFS for 2026

Although UFS encourages online submission, you can also submit manually. Please do not apply both manually and online at the same time.

How to Apply Online

  • Go to apply.ufs.ac.za to begin your online application.
  • Fill out all fields marked with an asterisk (*) on the form
  • Upload all required documents (see below).
  • Once completed, submit your application.
  • You will receive a student number via email.
  • Upload any missing documents before the deadline.

Required Documents

Make sure you have the following documents ready before applying:

  • South African ID (for South African citizens) or passport (for international applicants).
  • Parent’s ID or passport (if under 18).
  • Grade 11 results (with the school’s stamp).
  • Grade 12 June results (with the school’s stamp, if applicable).
  • National Senior Certificate (NSC) (if you’ve already matriculated).
  • Academic records (if you’ve studied at another institution).
  • USAF accreditation (if required, for South African universities).

UFS Application Fees

No application fee is required, making the process accessible to all prospective students.

Important Notes:

Late applications will not be considered, so be sure to apply before the deadlines.

Conditional Offers: After receiving your application and supporting documentation, UFS will review them and, depending on prerequisites and available space, may offer you a conditional slot in your preferred program.
