UFS Online Application 2027 Now Open For Free

Applications to study in 2027 at the University of the Free State are now officially open!

UFS invites all interested and suitably qualified applicants to visit the online application portal to complete and submit their applications as early as possible. Applying early gives you enough time to upload all required documents and track your application without last-minute pressure.

UFS Application Dates and Deadlines

The following are the key dates for the 2027 UFS application period, including when applications open and when they close.

Health Sciences & Sport programmes close …….. 31 May 2026
Nursing, Social Work & Architecture close …… 31 July 2026
International applications close ………………. 31 August 2026
All other non-selection programmes close …… 30 September 2026

How to Apply to UFS for 2027

While online applications are encouraged at UFS, you may submit your application manually if needed. Do not submit both formats at the same time.

How to Apply Online

Go to apply.ufs.ac.za to begin your online application.
Fill out all fields marked with an asterisk (*) on the form
Upload all required documents (see below).
Once completed, submit your application.
You will receive a student number via email.
Upload any missing documents before the deadline.

Required Documents

Make sure you have the following documents ready before applying:

South African ID (for South African citizens) or passport (for international applicants).
Parent’s ID or passport (if under 18).
Grade 11 results (with the school’s stamp).
Grade 12 June results (with the school’s stamp, if applicable).
National Senior Certificate (NSC) (if you’ve already matriculated).
Academic records (if you’ve studied at another institution).
USAF accreditation (if required, for South African universities).

UFS Application Fees

UFS does not charge an application fee, allowing all eligible students to apply without financial barriers.

Important Notes:

Late applications will not be considered, so be sure to apply before the deadlines.

Conditional Offers: After receiving your application and supporting documentation, UFS will review them and, depending on prerequisites and available space, may offer you a conditional slot in your preferred program.
