UCT Nursing Applications 2027: Dates, Fees & How to Apply

The School of Nursing at the University of Cape Town (UCT) is now officially accepting applications for its 2027 undergraduate programmes. If you are passionate about pursuing a career in nursing, this is your opportunity to apply for the 2027 academic year.

UCT’s Nursing School offers a variety of qualifications, including bachelor’s degrees, diplomas, higher certificates, and postgraduate advanced diplomas in nursing and midwifery. Students receive comprehensive academic and clinical training through partnerships with public and private hospitals, as well as community health facilities. This approach ensures valuable hands-on experience under the supervision of qualified educators and registered nurses, preparing graduates for professional practice in diverse healthcare settings.

UCT Nursing Application Date for 2027

Applications to study the Nursing programme at the University of Cape Town are open from 1 April to 31 July 2026. Please note that late applications will not be accepted under any circumstances.

  • Opening Date: April 1, 2026
  • Closing Date: July 31, 2026

Application Fees

  • South African and SADC Applicants: R100
  • International Applicants: R300

The application fee is non-refundable and must be paid by the closing date. Payment can be made through the following methods:

Nursing Programmes at the University of Cape Town

The University of Cape Town (UCT) offers the following nursing qualifications across undergraduate and postgraduate levels:

Undergraduate Programmes

  • Bachelor of Nursing
  • Diploma in Nursing
  • Higher Certificate in Auxiliary Nursing

Postgraduate & Specialist Programmes

  • Postgraduate Advanced Diploma in Nursing and Midwifery
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Advanced Midwifery and Neonatal Care
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Child Nursing
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Critical Care (Child) Nursing
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Nephrology Nursing
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Ophthalmic Nursing

UCT Admission Entry Requirements

To be considered for admission, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Matriculation Subjects: Mathematics, Physical Sciences, and Life Sciences.

Minimum Subject Levels:

  • Mathematics: Level 4 (or Mathematics Literacy Level 5)
  • Physical Sciences: Level 4
  • Life Sciences: Level 4

Additional requirements include meeting the minimum Admissions Point Score (APS) and National Benchmark Test (NBT) scores. Admission to the program is competitive, and meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee placement.

International applicants must also provide proof of medical insurance and a valid study visa for the duration of their studies.

How to Apply for Nursing at UCT

  • Click on the Apply Online to UCT Button to commence your online application
  • Select a qualification and any additional criteria.
  • Choose a nursing-related course only if you meet the requirements. This stage is very key to gaining admission into this university.
  • Gather your documents or upload any missing or incomplete documents.
  • Download an application form (manual applications only)
  • Fill out your application completely (manual and online)
  • The application cost must be paid (where applicable)
  • Submit your completed form as well as any supporting papers (manual and online applications). Review to ensure the right thing is done before clicking on the Button or sending the copy either by mail or hand delivery
  • Should your application be successful, you will be informed by email and SMS. You should also monitor the UCT self-service site, where your status will be updated immediately
