Number of Courses Required During Applications

Prospective undergraduate students at Rhodes University may apply to up to three programs on the same application form. Making three (3) choices increases your chances of admission to Rhodes University. These alternatives may be drawn from the same or different faculties.

How to access Rhodes University Application Form For 2025

To access the Rhodes University (RU) online application portal, you will need a mobile phone or any device that can connect to the internet. An email address and a contact number will be required to apply to Rhodes University (RU). Applications will be accepted from April 1, 2024, to September 30, 2024.

Only after all required fields have been completed can an application for admission be submitted online to Rhodes University (RU). However, most applicants must submit additional information after submitting an initial application.

Since Rhodes University RU does not encourage or accept late applications, it is in your best interests to apply as soon as possible so that you can secure a place for the academic year 2025-2026. Fill out the online application form for 2025 to take advantage of this opportunity to study at Rhodes University RU. The closing date for all courses studied at Rhodes University (RU) for the 2025–2026 academic year is September 30, 2024.

Rhodes University (RU) application fee for the 2025–2026 academic year

The handling or application fee for online applications is R100 for South Africans and foreign applicants. Proof of payment must be attached to the application form and submitted as soon as possible before the application deadline for the 2025 intake. Applicants should be aware that failure to pay the application fee for 2025 will result in their application being rejected.

Paying the application fee does not guarantee admission, and your money will not be refunded if you are not accepted for the 2025-2026 academic year. If you are rejected for 2024, you must complete a new application form and pay a new application fee.

You must apply for up to THREE programs from any faculty of your choice, assuming you meet the admission requirements for each. At Rhodes University RU, you can apply for THREE different study options. If you want to apply for both undergraduate and postgraduate programs, you must do so separately and provide all required documentation.

Applicants seeking Undergraduate ( CERTIFICATE, DIPLOMA & BACHELOR) qualification

Certified copy of your ID/passport document (compulsory).
Certified Grade 11 end-of-year examination results (for those currently in grade 12) or your National Senior/Matric/IEB Certificate (if you have already completed Grade 12).
Certified copies of your degree certificate(s) and academic record (if you attended or are currently a student at UP or another university).
Certified copy of your marriage certificate (if applicable).
Proof of payment of the compulsory and non-refundable application fee

Applicants seeking Postgraduate (MASTERS & DOCTORATE) qualifications

Certified copies of the following documents:
Matric exemption certificate (including subject marks)
ID document / Passport / Work permit / Study permit
Diploma/Degree certificate/s
Comprehensive academic record (indicating marks obtained for subjects)
Certificate of registration with the relevant professions council (if applicable)
Letter of appointment as a registrar with a date of assumption of duty: applicants for M Med and M Dent students NB: letter from the employer, e.g. Hospital HR.

How to Apply to Rhodes University for the 2025-2026 academic year

To apply online to Rhodes University for the 2025–2026 academic year between April 1 and September 30, please follow the guidelines below.

Go to https://www.ru.ac.za/.
Place the cursor on the Studying tab and select an option called ONLINE APPLICATION
You will be taken to the application gateway.
Select the ROSS link.
You will be directed to a page where you must log in as Admission (not yet enrolled at Rhodes)
To access ROSS, you must first register as an online user and/or receive login information from Rhodes University.
Use your student number and password to log in if you have already been assigned one.
If you have not yet registered for online applications and wish to apply to Rhodes, please click the link and follow the instructions.
Sign up for a New Undergraduate Admission, Honours, Masters, or PhD program.
After selecting your qualification, complete the form.
An email will be sent to the address you specified.
You must activate your account by clicking the link in the email message.
You can now access the application portal by entering your USERNAME and PASSWORD.
Complete the application form by populating the required fields
Once you have completed your application, tick the button accepting the terms and conditions and submit.
When you submit, you must pay the R100 application fee. Various options are provided by the system.
If you pay your application fee to the bank, use your application number as the reference and email the deposit slip to us.
Once you have completed the process above Rhodes will process the application and you are provided with a student number and login.
You can check the status of your application with the assigned or allocated student number after a few weeks of submission.
