NWU Confirms Application Date For 2025-2026

North-West University has officially confirmed the 2025 application window. According to North-West University’s official website, the application window for the 2025–2026 academic year admission will formally start and open on Monday, April 1, 2024, at precisely midnight. Prospective students who plan to enroll at North-west University (NWU) may formally submit their application via the website www.nwu.ac.za before the deadline.

North-West University (NWU): All students who meet the requirements may apply to study at North-West University for the 2025–2026 academic year, which opens on April 1, 2024. Applications are accepted for a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses and programs. All students will have access to the official application form starting on Monday, April 1, 2024, so they can log in and finish the 2025–2026 application.

South African nationals do not need to pay an application fee when applying to North-West University for the 2025–2026 academic year. To apply to study at North-West University, however, foreign applicants must pay an application fee of R600. Before the closing date, this fee must be paid, and NWU must receive proof of payment on or before that day.

To study a higher certificate, diploma, or bachelor degree at North-West University, you need to meet the minimum requirements below:

Higher Certificate: The minimum admission requirement is a National Senior Certificate with a minimum of 30% in the language of learning and teaching of the higher education institution as certified by Umalusi, the Quality Assurance Council. Institutional and programme needs may require additional combinations or recognised NSC subjects and levels of achievement.

Diploma: The minimum admission requirement is a National Senior Certificate with a minimum of 30% in the language of learning and teaching of the higher education institution as certified by Umalusi, the Quality Assurance Council, coupled with an achievement rating of 3 (Moderate Achievement, 40% – 49%) or better in four (4) recognised 20-credit subjects. Institutional and programme needs may require additional combinations of recognised NSC subjects and levels of achievement.

Bachelor’s Degree: The minimum admission requirement is a National Senior Certificate with a minimum of 30% in the language of learning and teaching of the higher education institution as certified by Umalusi, the Quality Assurance Council, coupled with an achievement rating of 4 (Adequate Achievement, 50% – 59%) or better in four (4) recognised 20-credit subjects. Institutional and programme needs may require additional combinations of recognised NSC subjects and levels of achievement.

North-west University Application Materials For 2025-2026

Prospective applicants wishing to study at North-west University must possess the following documents:

• A mobile phone and an active email address are required
• Grade 12 results; grade 11 results (final results only) or a copy of your matriculation certificate, if you have already passed matriculation.
• Applicants who are currently upgrading their grade 12 results will only be considered after the improved results are presented to the NWU.
• Applicants who follow the Cambridge, GED, or any other non-NSC curriculum, or who may qualify for exemption based on advanced age or post-school qualifications, must provide an exemption certificate as issued by the USAF.
• A copy of your ID
• Copy of your academic record (if applicable).
• A copy of your passport if you are a citizen of South Africa

Required Documents for Postgraduate Candidates

• A certified copy of your SA ID document (or your passport if you are an international student).
• Certified copies of academic transcripts of all qualifications obtained from other tertiary education institutions.
• Certified copies of all certificates, diplomas, and degrees from other tertiary institutions.
