Prospective Students who have been waiting to apply to the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) can do so now by visiting the NSFAS official website. The application period for the 2023-2024 academic year is now open, and qualified applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible because no late applications will be accepted.

Students who are NSFAS-eligible and have a firm place to study in an approved program at a public institution are encouraged to apply for a study place through the institutions’ application processes.
Only students who are financially eligible for NSFAS funding and have a firm place to study in an approved program at a public university are eligible for funding.

At any given time, a student can only be funded for one qualification at one institution. If the student completed an N6 qualification at a TVET college, he or she may be eligible for university funding. Once your N6 is completed, you will need to apply for university funding.

Nsfas Applicants’ Field of Study

If you do not apply to a university or college for an NSFAS-funded course, you will not be accepted. NSFAS funding is available for approved funded university programs that include all undergraduate qualifications. See the list of NSFAS-funded courses below.

Academic requirements for the Nnsfas bursary

To receive NSFAS funding to study at a TVET college, you must have completed Grades 9 to 12, and Grade 12 to study at a university or TVET college. If you are approved for NSFAS funding, you must first meet the academic admission requirements of the university or TVET college before NSFAS will provide you with any funds.
