DUT Online Application 2026 Undergraduate
The application window for Durban University of Technology (DUT) for the 2026 academic year is now open. DUT is accepting applications for both undergraduate and postgraduate programs from April 1 to October 31, 2025. Late Applications
Durban University of Technology (DUT) will close applications for the 2026 admissions on October 31, 2025, and will not accept late submissions, either online or in person. If you miss the deadline, you can explore the Department of Higher Education and Training’s (DHET) Central Application Clearing House (CACH), which assists unplaced students in finding available spots at other institutions. To access CACH, send a standard-rate SMS with your name and ID number to 49200.
DUT Applicant Fees 2026 Academic Year
Durban University of Technology (DUT) applicants need to pay a non-refundable application fee.
- South African citizens: R250
- International applicants: R300
Here’s how to pay:
- Direct deposit: At any Standard Bank branch, use Account 050505416, using your student number as a reference.
- EFT: Transfer funds directly from your account to DUT using your student number as a reference. Allow two days for processing.
- Online: Pay by credit card at www.dut.ac.za
Undergraduate Durban University Admissions Go Through CAO Only
While applying directly to Durban University of Technology might seem quicker, undergraduate applicants must go through the Central Applications Office (CAO). Direct applications are only accepted for postgraduate programs. So, save yourself some hassle and submit your undergraduate application through the CAO website

DUT CAO Application Process
Follow the guidelines below to apply to study at Durban University of Technology.
Gather your documents:
Certified copies of:
- Identity document (ID)
- Final Grade 11 and Grade 12 certificates (or June/Trial report if you haven’t written final exams)
Start the application process
- Go to https://cao.ac.za/
- Register using your details and a valid email address.
- Click on “Apply” and follow the prompts.
- Carefully enter your personal information and academic details.
- Select DUT as your preferred institution.
- Choose your desired programs:
- Prioritize your choices. List programs in order of preference, as CAO will consider them accordingly.
- Read the brochure for all the entry requirements
- Upload the required certified copies of your ID and academic results.
- Thoroughly review all entered information for accuracy.
- Submit your completed application form and payment before the deadline.
- Use your CAO account to track the status of your application.
- CAO will process applications and release placement results.
- If you’re accepted, you’ll receive an offer letter from DUT
DUT Admission Requirements 2026
You need to meet the requirements below:
Minimum Requirements for All Programs:
- National Senior Certificate (NSC): Possessing an NSC is essential, with a minimum of 30% in the language of learning and teaching as certified by Umalusi.
Higher Certificate:
- National Certificate (Vocational) Level 4: Achieve at least 50% in English to be eligible.
Diploma:
- National Certificate (Vocational) Level 4: Meet these minimums:
- 50% in three fundamental subjects, including English.
- 60% in three compulsory vocational subjects.
Bachelor’s Degree:
- National Certificate (Vocational) Level 4: Aim for these thresholds:
- 60% in three fundamental subjects, including English.
- 70% in four compulsory vocational subjects from your National Certificate (Vocational) Level.
