Walter Sisulu University is now accepting new students into its undergraduate and postgraduate programmes for the 2027 academic year. If you are interested in applying, visit the official university website to begin your application.

WSU 2027 Application Dates

Below are the official WSU 2027 application opening and closing dates:

1 April 2026 – Applications open for all programmes
30 September 2026 – International applications close
31 October 2026 – South African (RSA) applications close

Take Note:

Late submissions will unfortunately not be processed, so applicants are encouraged to apply before the deadline

Who Can Apply

Applicants with strong academic results and a good APS score are encouraged to apply for admission in 2027.

The application process is open to:

New students applying for the first time
Returning students who wish to start a new qualification or change their current programme

A valid email address and phone number
Your identity document (ID)
Next of kin details
A compatible internet browser

There is no application fee required. The WSU online application is completely free.

Funding Available

There are several funding opportunities available for students at WSU. Some of the most notable options include:

NSFAS: Available to students whose household annual income does not exceed R350,000.
Merit-Based Funding: Awarded to students based on their academic performance and achievements.

Click on “Apply Now”
Enter your details to create a profile
Activate your profile through the email sent to you
Enter the OTP sent via SMS to enable the portal
Complete all required application fields
Select at least two study programmes
Upload all required supporting documents
Review and submit your final application

Take Note:

You can apply for accommodation on the same form during the academic application. Simply tick the residence section, and your request will be considered based on available space.

How to Check Your Application Status

After submitting your application, you will receive an acknowledgment email confirming receipt of your application.

You will also be assigned a student number, which you can use to log in to your dashboard and track your application status.

WSU 2027 Late Applications

Walter Sisulu University may accept late applications only if space is still available in certain programmes. Applicants are therefore advised to apply early to avoid missing out.

WSU 2027 Minimum Admission Requirements

The minimum admission requirement for undergraduate studies is a National Senior Certificate (NSC) with a good APS score, including:

An achievement rating of 4 (50–59%) or higher in four recognised 20-credit subjects, excluding Life Orientation
Equivalent international school-leaving results for international applicants

Acceptance of Offer

Once you meet the admission requirements and are selected, the university will issue an offer letter. You will then have the option to accept or decline the admission offer through the application system.
