Applying to Durban University of Technology for 2027

The Durban University of Technology (DUT) processes applications through the Central Application Office (CAO), except for those applying for postgraduate programmes. Prospective students can submit their applications via the CAO online portal, which opens on March 1, 2026, so itโ€™s recommended to apply as early as possible.

What are the minimum academic requirements for a bachelorโ€™s degree at DUT?

Before you consider applying for University, you must have

  • National Senior Certificate (NSC) as certified by the Council for General and Further Education and Training (Umalusi), with at least a 3 in English and a 4 in four NSC 20-credit subjects chosen from the NSC designated subject list.

How to Apply to DUT

  • Go to https://cao.ac.za/
  • Register using your details and a valid email address.
  • Click on โ€œApplyโ€ and follow the prompts.
  • Carefully enter your personal information and academic details.
  • Select DUT as your preferred institution.
  • Choose your desired programs:
  • Prioritize your choices. List programs in order of preference, as CAO will consider them accordingly.
  • Check for specific requirements: Some programs may have additional requirements or earlier deadlines.
  • Upload the required certified copies of your ID and academic results.
  • Pay the applicable fee (usually R250 for SA citizens, R300 for international applicants).
