The University of South Africa (UNISA) is now accepting applications for the 2026 academic year. You can now apply for your preferred undergraduate or graduate course at one of South Africa’s top universities, whether you are a national or non-national student. The University of South Africa (UNISA) does not guarantee applications submitted beyond the deadline. We recommend that you apply as soon as possible to secure your position in the course.

To apply to the University of South Africa (UNISA), complete the steps outlined below.
Step 1: Selection Criteria
- You must meet the minimum and faculty requirements of the selected course.
- Apply for up to three study programs on the same form.
- Submit only one application form for 2026.
- Submit a completed application form.
- You can reapply for the 2026 academic year if you were previously rejected.
Step 2: Required Documents During UNISA Application
Undergraduate
- Certified copy of your ID or passport document (compulsory).
- Certified Grade 11 end-of-year examination results (for those currently in grade 12) or your National Senior/Matric/IEB Certificate (if you have already completed Grade 12).
- Certified copies of your degree certificate(s) and academic record (if you attended or are currently a student at UNISA or another university).
- Certified copy of your marriage certificate (if applicable).
- Proof of payment of the compulsory and non-refundable application fee
Postgraduate
- Certified copies of the following documents:
- Matric exemption certificate (including subject marks)
- ID document / Passport / Work permit / Study permit
- Diploma/Degree certificate/s
- Comprehensive academic record (indicating marks obtained for subjects)
- Certificate of registration with the relevant professional council (if applicable)
- Letter of appointment as a registrar with a date of assumption of duty: applicants for M Med and M Dent students NB: letter from the employer, e.g. hospital HR.
- Motivational letter and CV (for Health applicants only)
- Medical aid (Non-South Africans)
- Students with non-South African qualifications must attach a SAQA evaluation certificate with their previous degrees obtained

Step 3: Non-refundable Handling Fee
The University of South Africa application fee for 2026 admission is as follows:
- RSA/SADC Applicants: R135.00
- Other African Countries: R135.00
- Countries outside Africa: R135.00
All first-time applicants must pay the nonrefundable fee listed above before their application can be processed. Remember to keep a copy of the deposit slip for evidence of payment.

Step 5: Who is eligible to apply to the University of South Africa?
The following individuals are eligible to apply for admission for the 2026 academic year to the University of South Africa:
- First-time applicants applying to the University of South Africa for the very first time
- Students who have never been given the University of South Africa student number in the previous years
- Students who are already enrolled in the university but want to change qualifications.
Step 6: How to Apply Online for University of South Africa Admission
Follow these steps to apply to the University of South Africa for the 2026 academic year:

- Select “Click here to apply.”
- Accept the application rules and click “proceed.”
- Enter your details and click “next.”
- Enter academic scores, add subjects, then click “next.”
- Select your school from the drop-down box and click “next.”
- Choose two program options, click “add qualification,” and then “next.”
- Verify application details and click “Continue.”
- To upload documents, select “yes” and click “next.”
- Click “Load/View Document,” then “Upload Document,” choose files, and save.
- To finish uploading all documents, click “Finish upload.”
