Do you want to study at the University of Johannesburg, one of Africa’s top universities, but you are not a South African citizen? This article discusses the University of Johannesburg’s global application procedure as well as the requirements for recommended reading for prospective applicants from all over the world.

The University of Johannesburg’s administration is inviting all prospective applicants living outside of South Africa (International Applicants) to apply for 2024/2025 admissions beginning in April. All undergraduate, postgraduate, and honorary degrees are eligible to apply for the 2024/2025 academic year.

Opening Date: The application period for all undergraduate and postgraduate students for the 2024/2025 academic year is still open. All prospective applicants can still access the portal.

UJ Application Deadline: Admissions to all undergraduate programs at the University of Johannesburg will close on September 30, 2023. (30/09/2023).

Postgraduate Application and its relative deadlines: Until October 31, 2023, at noon, applications are still being accepted, with the exception of the following programmes, which have a SEPTEMBER 30 deadline.

  • BCom Hons in Financial Planning

Applying for Undergraduate Programs: Undergraduate applicants must apply online by following a set of instructions. Johannesburg University International Application 2024/2025

STEP 1: Login Detail

  • Access internet access. (Recommended browser: Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox)
  • Enter “www.uj.ac.za/Apply” in the search box.
  • Select “New Applicant” from the drop-down menu.
  • To indicate your student number, select Yes/No from the drop box.
  • To indicate if you’re returning to finish an unfinished application, select Yes/No from the drop-down menu.

STEP 2: Choose your desired course and ensure you meet the requirement

  • Choose your Course after examining the specific course requirements. This stage is very key to gaining admission into this University. Consult people if you don’t know what to choose.
  • If applicable, enter a qualification token. You have the options to choose two study choices.

Step 3 Accept the rules and regulations

  • Read the clause that appears.
  • Select “I Accept” from the drop-down menu.
  • To continue, select the “Next” option.

STEP 4: Fill out the online form

  • Fill in your passport or ID number.
  • fill in the missing information
  • To move on to the next page, click “save and continue.”

Step 5: Upload the Required Documents and Submit a fully completed form

  • Documents to be uploaded (Ensure they are in prescribed formats.)
  • Submit your application by Clicking on the Submit

How must is the Application Fee: Online applications are free

What Documents Are Required for Undergraduate Applicants? The following documents must be scanned into a tiff, pdf, jpg, or gif and must be no larger than 512KB.

  • Final School Leaving results
  • Sworn English translation documents
  • Valid passport or ID or Birth certificate
  • Proof of English Proficiency where English was not the medium of instruction
  • Valid Email Address.

How to Apply for Postgraduate programmes: You can submit your application online by following the same steps as an undergraduate, or you can download the application form and mail it or drop it off at the Student Enrolment Center. Hardcopy applicants are required to pay a non-refundable R200 application fee whereas online applicants are excused from paying one.

Sending your documents: Documents can be emailed to ujappdocs@listsrv.uj.ac.za with the provisional reference/student number noted in the subject line of the email. They can also be uploaded on the application portal.

Hard Copy Application fee: The following banking information should be used by overseas applicants who submit hardcopy applications and pay at First National Bank in South Africa or transfer money from an international bank:

International Applicants’ Admission Requirements

Degree Applicants:

  • You are required to have as an international applicant South Africa National Senior Certificate with a degree endorsement.
  • All high school qualifications achieve not in south Africa a certificate of exemption from the Matriculation Board in order to get access to any degree programmes.

Provide the following documents if you are applying for an exemption:

  • Form M30 is accessible at https://mb.usaf.ac.za)
  • Certified copies of your certificate by the South Africa High Commissioner
  • Consulate, Trade missions, or Public Notary in your home country
  • A certified copy of your passport or birth certificate
  • Sworn translation of your documents
  • Exemption fee as determined by the Board
  • Submit proof of payment for the exemption fee of R562 payable to the banking details below of the Matriculation Board
