UKZN Undergraduate Online Application Now Open For 2027

If pursuing undergraduate qualifications such as a diploma, higher certificate, postgraduate diploma, or bachelor’s degree has always been your dream, the wait is finally over!

The University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) has officially opened the application window for the 2027 academic year as of March 1, 2026. Prospective students who have completed their senior high school or college education or those seeking to transfer from another institution are encouraged to submit their undergraduate applications online as soon as possible to secure their place.

2027 UKZN Key Application Periods (Undergraduate)

The University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) has set the following closing dates for undergraduate applications for the 2027 academic year:

• Medicine Program: June 30, 2027

• All Other Undergraduate Programs: September 30, 2026

Applicants are encouraged to submit their applications before these deadlines to ensure consideration.

Who Can Apply for UKZN 2027?

You can apply to the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) for 2027 if you:

• Meet the university’s general and program-specific admission requirements.

• Fill out and submit the online application form.

• Upload all required documents in the correct format.

• Pay the application fee and provide proof of payment.

• Give valid contact information for communication.

UKZN Application Fee for 2027 Admission

If you are applying to the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) for 2027, you must pay a non-refundable application fee and upload proof of payment during your online application.

• On-time applications: R210

• Late applications: R420

Note: Current UKZN students who were enrolled in the previous academic year do not need to pay an application fee.

How to Apply at the University of Kwazulu-Natal 

Prospective applicants have the option to apply online or manually for undergraduate programmes, see the details below for clarification:

Undergraduate Application Procedures for First-Time South African Applicants

Current Applicants:

• Are you a South African citizen and currently in Grade 12, or have you completed it? your National Senior Certificate or Senior Certificate and have never studied at UKZN before OR

Transfer Applicants:

• Currently registered (or have been registered) at another institution for undergraduate studies and wish to apply for a transfer to UKZN. Then note below how to apply:
  • • You (2 categories aforementioned) have to make an application to UKZN by completing a Central Application Office (CAO) application form. Follow the steps below to apply via CAO
      

CAO Application Procedures are Explained below

Step 1: Contact CAO Office

• Contact the CAO by telephone, email, or letter and have your details captured.

Step 2: Receive the Package from CAO Office

• Once your details have been recorded, the CAO will send you a package containing the CAO handbook and application forms.

Step 3: Registration Details

• The Admissions Office will also receive your details via the CAO, informing them of registration dates and venues, and will post specific career leaflets for your choice of study.

STEP 4: Complete the Application Form and Payment

• Fill out the application form, pay the CAO application fee, and deliver it to the CAO according to the instructions in your CAO manual.
• Where applicable, R210 on-time applications and R420 late applications are permitted.

Step 5: Track Your Application Status

• Your information will now be available on the CAO and affiliated institutions if you have also chosen another institution.
• The selection process now begins, and the DUT Student Admissions Office will keep you updated on the status.

UKZN 2027 Application Required Documents

Current Applicants: Prospective applicants must have the following:

•  Certified copies of their Grade 11 results (plus any available Grade 12 results)
• ID documents with the applications.

Transfer Applicants: Transfer Applicants wishing to transfer from other Universities must submit 

•  Certified copies of their National Senior Certificates/Senior certificates
• Complete academic transcripts from their previous/current universities with their applications.
