UKZN Releases Official 2027 Application Dates

Exciting news for students eagerly awaiting the 2027 University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) application dates! The application period has finally been announced, opening earlier than expected. Prepare yourself for a smooth and exciting application process, as this year promises great opportunities for prospective students.

Application Opening Date

The 2027 application cycle at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) is scheduled to open on March 1, 2026. Prospective students are encouraged to visit the application portal and submit their applications as early as possible, as spaces are limited and competition is expected to be high.

UKZN Application Deadlines for 2027 Admissions

All application documents must reach UKZN or CAO by the following dates:

Medical Program: June 30, 2026.
All Other Courses: September 30, 2026.

Late applications shall be considered for all available programs, except for medicine.

When to Pay the 2027 Application Fee

For first-time South African applicants: All payments must be made directly to the Central Applications Office (CAO), not to UKZN.

Application Fee Schedule:

Early Bird (by 31 October 2026): R250
Late Applications (Subject to space availability): R470

How to Pay:

At any EasyPay facility: Use your application number and EasyPay number on the form as a reference.
Via Internet/Bank Deposit: Print a deposit slip quoting your CAO number for bank deposits.

Important Notes:

Do not pay CAO administration fees to UKZN, and do not enclose cash.
Applications will be rejected if the fee is not received by the specified dates.

For entry in Semester 2 (August 2027),

Prospective applicants must take note of the date below:

30 April 2027 (new applicants as well as returning UKZN students).
Limited new applications may be allowed only to general programmes in Humanities and Management Studies where admission is considered.

International Applicants

For international applicants, the following information must be taken into consideration:

On the UKZN Application for Admission to Undergraduate Programs (International) form, applicants for full-time undergraduate studies must apply directly to UKZN.
UKZN charges a non-refundable application fee. On submission of their application, applicants must include proof of payment as well as all documentation requested.
Applications and proof of payment must reach the university before or on the date of closing for 2023 admissions.

Application Fees for International Students (2027)

Prospective international applicants must pay the non-refundable application fee and submit proof of payment when submitting their application directly to UKZN.

Fee Structure:

Students from SADC and other African countries: R490
Students from outside Africa: $153

Important Note:

Late applications will not be considered for international applicants.
