Postgraduate applicants can select one of two distinct programs during the application process. This choice is final, but applicants can be accepted into both programs and ultimately choose one to focus on during their studies. Remember:

UJ Application Documents For Postgraduate Applications For 2026
Prospective applicants must upload the following documents or forfeit their seat to another applicant
- Departmental application form
- Curriculum vitae up to date
- motivation letter
- Thesis
- Full academic transcripts
- SAQA (International Applicants)
- Brief Proposal
- ID or Passport

- All documents are certified
- All documents are scanned with a maximum size of 512KB
- Documents are scanned in any of the following types: tiff, pdf, jpg or gif
- Each document must be scanned and uploaded as separate attachments

Documents can be emailed to ujappdocs@listsrv.uj.ac.za with the provisional reference or student number noted in the subject line of the email.
How to Apply for UJ Postgraduate Applications
Follow the steps below to apply online
- Applicants without a student number must first log into the official website and click on ‘new applicants
- Enter your personal details, contact information, and residential information to create a student number.
- This number will be sent to your email for verification
- come back to the application portal and log in with your student number to begin your applications
- You can save and continue later during the application at every stage of the process
- Choose your Course (you have the options to choose two study options).
- Upload the required documents in their right format, as indicated above
- Submit your application by Clicking on Submit.
