UJ Medicine Requirements For 2024-2025

Every institution has one of the most competitive admission requirements for its medical programs. Most students presumably do not enroll in these highly sought-after courses because they cannot meet the prerequisites. Applicants must exceed the requirement to be eligible for any health science courses. For no other reason than that, it involves human lives, and human lives cannot be trusted in the hands of someone who is not qualified and equipped.

The University of Johannesburg is inviting all prospective applicants who are qualified to apply for any of the programmes in health science for the 2024/2025 academic year. Applicants are entreated to be sure of the requirement before applying to enhance their chances of being accepted.

When to Apply for admissions:

The University of Johannesburg is still in progress from April 2023. Applicants who are interested in any of the health sciences programmes should apply as soon as possible because of limited space.

The University of Johannesburg Closing schedules for 2024 admissions:

Interested applicants who want to apply and study with the university of Johannesburg for the 2023 academic year should begin their applications before the closing dates. Since late Applications attract an additional cost of applying, applicants are encouraged to apply as early as possible for the 2024/2025 academic year. The closing date is as follows:

  • On September 30, 2023, all undergraduate programs—including those in the health sciences—end.
  • On October 1, 2023, postgraduate programs come to an end.

How to Apply for Health Sciences Admissions at UJ:

There are two methods you can submit an application for admission to the University of Johannesburg. Either their paper application process or their online application system is available for you to use.

Courses Under the health sciences: The following are the courses offered in health science:

  • Biomedical Sciences
  • Chiropractic
  • Emergency Medical Care
  • Environmental Health
  • Complementary Medicine
  • Human Anatomy and Physiology
  • Medical Imaging and Radiation Sciences (Radiography)
  • Nursing
  • Optometry
  • Podiatry
  • Sport and Movement Studies

Admission Requirements for health sciences

Prospectives must meet the following requirements to be considered for admissions
Degree: Applicants must

  • Have an NCV (level 4) issued by the Council for General and Further Education and Training
  • Achieved a minimum of 70% for 5 of the 7 subjects – fundamental and vocational categories.
  • Passed English as Language of Teaching and Learning / First Additional Language as a fundamental component with a minimum of 70%.
  • Passed Mathematics and Physical Sciences as Fundamental Components with a minimum score of 70%.

BCom Degree: Applicant must have:

  • An NCV (level 4) was issued by the Council for General and Further Education and Training.
  • Achieved a minimum of 60% for 6 of the 7 subjects – fundamental and vocational categories.
  • Passed English as Language of Teaching and Learning / First Additional Language as a fundamental component with a minimum of 70%.
  • Passed Mathematics and Physical Sciences as Fundamental Components with a minimum score of 60%.

Diploma (3 years): Applicant must have:

  • An NCV (level 4) issued by the Council for General and Further Education and Training.
  • Achievement of at least 60% for 5 of the 7 subjects – fundamental and vocational categories.
  • Achievement of at least 60% in English as Language of Teaching and Learning / First Additional Language.
  • Achievement of at least 60% in Mathematics or 70% in Mathematics Literacy – taken as fundamental subjects.
