Application Date of UJ 2026

The University of Johannesburg is now accepting applications for the 2026 academic year. Undergraduate and graduate applicants both have until October 31, 2024, to submit their applications. Ensure you meet all the requirements and get your application in on time!

How to Apply Online at UJ

Applying to a university could be hectic sometimes. Some of the portals are complex, making an applicant go through hell in the application process. At the University of Johannesburg, there are two forms of application. All prospective applicants then select which one of these two will be best for them. However, one of the forms comes with a cost of R200.00 for the manual application. The online application is, however, free of charge. Considering the cost involved, one may choose the online application over the paper-based application. The online application is easy with the right technology.

What You Need To Apply Online At UJ

Prospective applicants who are ready to apply online must have:

  • A working email Address: This is very key because most correspondences are sent to this email, including the student number, which serves as an identifier when accepted into the university.
  • Mobile Number: Applicants after submission will be notified with an acknowledgement message via SMS.
  • Smart Device: Applicants must use a smart device for the online application for an easy application process. Applicants are, however, advised not to use a mobile phone because it delays the whole process. If not, change it to desktop mode before you begin. 
  • All the supporting documents: Applicants will be asked to upload all the supporting documents during the process. Applicants must have them scanned and saved separately. These documents must be in tiff, pdf, jpg, or gif format with a maximum size of 5 MB.

What You Need To Apply Manually

Manual Applicants must also have the following before downloading the application form to fill out:.

  • A working email address: This is very key because most correspondence is sent to this email, including the student number, which serves as an identifier when accepted into the university.
  • Mobile Number: Applicants after submission will be notified with an acknowledgement message via SMS.
  • All the supporting documents: The fully completed application form must be submitted with these supporting documents. Applicants do not have to scan these, but a copy must be attached to your form. These forms must be certified.

Application Materials Required

Provide the documents below when applying to study at UJ

Applicants from South Africa

  •  Copies of your identification documents that have been certified (ID)
  • A certified copy of your Grade 12 examination results
  • Certified copy of your Grade 11 (if you’re in Grade 12 right now)
  • An email address is required.

Foreign Applicants (Outside South Africa)

  •  A certified copy of your native country’s identification document
  •  A certified copy of your passport number from your home country
  • Study Visa in South Africa
  • Medical Report
  • English Proficiency For undergraduate programs, proof of IELTS with an overall score of 6 and TOEFL with an average score of 80–104 is required.
  • You can take the English Language Programme Test at the University of Johannesburg (UJELP).

Monitor Your Status After Submission

Online applicants will receive either a final or deferred status within 2 days after submission. Hardcopy applicants will receive either a final or deferred status within 5 working days. This is the result of the numerous applications received every year. The university assures applicants of a smooth application process in 2024. Applicants can, however, monitor, verify, and check the status in 2024 via the STATUS LINK.
