The University of Fort Hare is offering a second chance for admission to certain programs in the 2025–2026 academic year. Apply online between January 21st and February 28th, but make sure your desired course is listed on the UFH website.

South African vs. International UFH Application Fees

Good news for South African and international students applying to UFH in 2025-2026! The online application is free! However, those submitting manual applications need to pay R120 (local) and R500 (international). Download the Application Guide from the UFH website if you already have an ID number on the online portal. Remember, complete document submission is key to application processing!

The following documents must be submitted before your application can be considered valid for 2025 admissions. Before submitting your application, you must attach the documents to the form you filled out with a black pen.

UFH Undergraduate Requirements

Identity Document
Marriage Certificate (if applicable)
Original Proof of payment of application fee
Grade 11 Final Results and Term 1 Grade 12 Results (If you are currently doing matric)
Matric Certificate
SAQA clearance certificate (all undergrad nursing students)
Academic Record, including proof that the Certificate of Conduct has been requested from the previous University / University of technology if you had registered at another institution

UFH Postgraduate Requirements

A certified copy of your ID or passport is required.
Authenticated copy of your National Senior/Matric Certificate, O/A Levels, or other relevant school leaving qualification or certificate.
If you are an international applicant, you must provide proof from universities in South Africa (previously known as HESA) that you are eligible for admission to degree studies at South African universities. Refer to the undergraduate prospectus for more information.
If you attended other universities, please provide certified copies of your degree certificate(s), academic record, and certificate of conduct.
International applicants from non-English-speaking countries must provide proof of their English proficiency.
If the previous qualification(s) were obtained at a foreign university, the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) evaluates them outside South Africa.
If you are applying for a Masters or PhD, submit a research proposal or proposed title for your dissertation or thesis.

How To Apply to the University of Fort Hare for 2025

Submit your application form and all the necessary documentation, including g application fee, before the closing date.
An SMS will be sent to you informing you of the status of your application, followed by a letter of confirmation.
Current matriculants who qualify based on their Grade 12 mid-term performance are provisionally admitted pending the submission of their final matric results and subject to the availability of space.
Successful applicants will receive an admission letter together with a registration guide that reflects the registration dates and orientation programme. It is important to note that all applicants who wrote the National Senior Certificate (NSC) are required to write the National Benchmark Test (NBT) before they are allowed to register for their first year at the university.
