About South African Reserve Bank (SARB) Bursary 2025

The South African Reserve Bank (SARB) offers scholarships and bursaries to disadvantaged students pursuing relevant fields of study to address South Africa’s severe skills shortage. As part of its corporate social initiatives, the SARB’s External Bursary Scheme provides annual financial support to deserving Grade 12/Matric pupils who demonstrate financial need to help them pursue full-time tertiary education.

Eligibility Criteria For South African Reserve Bank (SARB) Bursary 2025

Applications are open to current students or students starting their studies in 2025 who meet the following eligibility criteria

  • Applicant must be a citizen of South Africa.
  • Applicant must be currently in Grade 12
  • Applicants must be younger than 30 years old at the time of the application.
  • Applicant must have achieved an average pass mark of 70% in his or her current year of study.
  • Applicants must provide proof of financial need or assistance

The South African Reserve Bank (SARB) Bursary program’s value will be determined individually and used to cover study-related cost items as follows:

  • Tuition fees
  • All prescribed books and materials
  • Accommodation
  • Meals
  • Transport costs

South African Reserve Bank (SARB) Bursary Application Documents Required

Please get the following documents ready to upload when asked or attach them to hardcopy applications

  • A certified copy of the June matric results.
  • A certified copy of final matric results (Completed Grade 12).
  • Proof of acceptance at a recognized tertiary institution.
  • An essay of 250 words to motivate the application
  • A certified copy of the South African identity document (ID).

  • Applications must be completed online or manually (offline) to be considered for a bursary for the academic year 2025-2026.

The application form is open until September 30, 2024, after which no applications will be considered. Please carefully read the instructions on the Bursary Applications page before beginning your application and ensure all application documents are submitted on or before the closing date as late applications may be rejected. If you have not been contacted within one month of the closing date, please assume your application was unsuccessful.
