How to Apply to Rhodes University
Prospective applicants must go through these steps to apply online at Rhodes University.
Phase 1: Indicate Your Population Group (for Example Chinese, Coloured, White)
- The university requires an answer to this question because some donors have stipulated that their bursaries may only be awarded to a particular race. The Government also requires this information for statistical purposes.
Phase 2: Choose the Qualification
- Under the Curriculum Selection section, you’ll find a list of the degrees available at Rhodes. ATTENDANCE AT A PRIOR TERTIARY INSTITUTE A copy of a full academic transcript with your final results is necessary if you have previously attended or are presently attending another institution.
- Midyear results may be considered, but the Dean may wait until your final results are available before making a decision. Could you please provide them with a copy of your institution’s transcript? This is not a Result Slip.
Phase 3: Contact Details
- Please complete it in detail. The university cannot respond to your application if this information is incomplete.

Phase 4: Provide your Examination Results
- If you have already matriculated or completed your O levels / A levels it is essential that you enclose a certified copy of the certificate.
- PLEASE ONLY COMPLETE THE SECTION RELEVANT TO YOUR SCHOOLING (only if you are currently at school).
Phase 5: Current year’s Employment
- If you have been working or travelling, a letter detailing your activities would be of great assistance.
- You only get financial assistance if you are not able to obtain funding elsewhere (e.g., a student loan at a bank). Provide some additional information about yourself.
Phase 6: Complete your application
- Complete Section Two of the form to the best of your ability, providing as much information as feasible. When evaluating your application, the deans will read this part. If you don’t have the required number of points for admission, this is especially critical.
Phase 7: Declaration, agreement and Submission
- This page of the form must be signed by both you and your parent/guardian; if this is not done, the form will be returned to you.

- Certified copy of your latest exam results/matriculation certificate (post-matriculants only),

- Ensure your form is signed/endorsed and submitted before the CLOSING DATES which are yet to be announced
