NWU 2027 Online Application – How to Apply Early

North-West University, whose applications are now open for the 2027 academic intake, is calling on all prospective students who wish to further their studies to visit the official website and complete the application form as soon as possible.

North-West University’s 2027 application portal will remain active from 1 April to 31 August 2026. Prospective students should ensure that their application forms, along with all required documents, are submitted on time.

Application Requirements

It’s important to note that you cannot apply to NWU while in Grade 11 or without internet access. Applications are only accepted online and must be submitted the year before you plan to enrol.

Changing Your Course

If you wish to change your course and there is available space in your desired faculty, and you meet the admission requirements, you can request a course change. For assistance, contact the NWU Admissions Office.

North-West University (NWU) only accepts online applications for the January 2027 intake—no paper or walk-in applications will be accepted. Prospective undergraduate students can apply through the application portal at www.nwu.ac.za.

Documents Needed and Required to Apply to NWU

Applicants to NWU’s undergraduate programs must submit the following documents:.

A mobile phone and an active email address are required
Grade 12 results; grade 11 results (final results only); or a copy of your matriculation certificate, if you have already passed matriculation.
Applicants who are currently upgrading their grade 12 results will only be considered after the improved results are presented to the NWU.
Applicants who follow the Cambridge, GED, or any other non-NSC curriculum or who may qualify for exemption based on advanced age or post-school qualifications must provide an exemption certificate as issued by the USAF.
A copy of your ID
Copy of your academic record (if applicable).
A copy of your passport if you are a citizen of South Africa

Required Documents for Postgraduate Candidates

A certified copy of your SA ID document (or your passport if you are an international student).
Certified copies of academic transcripts of all qualifications obtained from other tertiary education institutions.
Certified copies of all certificates, diplomas, and degrees from other tertiary institutions.

How much are the NWU application fees?

There is no application fee for South African applicants to North-West University (NWU). However, international students are required to pay an application fee of R550. If the fee is paid offline before the deadline, applicants must upload proof of payment with their application.

Application fees will not be refunded. Paying an application fee does not mean that your application will be successful.

How to Apply for Undergraduate and Postgraduate Degrees at NWU

To apply for an undergraduate degree at North-West University (NWU), you must apply online using a valid email address and your South African ID number or passport number (for international applicants). All postgraduate applicants must also apply online.

It is important to submit your application as soon as it’s complete, as late submissions will be automatically cancelled. You can still upload any outstanding documents after submitting your application.

NWU Online Application Process for 2027

To apply for North-West University admissions in 2027, follow the procedures below:

Go to the official NWU website at www.nwu.ac.za
Select and Click on the application online.
When you click on Application Login, the login screen will appear.
Complete all of the fields after clicking on Create new student number.
If you already have a university number, enter it into the portal.
When you receive a student number, log in with it and the PIN number you created. Keep your student ID and PIN secure. You’ll require it in the future.
Fill out all of the fields. Utilize the yearbooks to learn more about the qualifications, modes of delivery, and curriculum.
Please include any supporting documentation. The university may reject an application if it is incomplete.
Please ensure that you press the “Submit Application” button once you have completed your application to ensure that NWU receives it.

Applicants who apply for admission to the university can track the status of their application by filling out the form below. Both undergraduate and graduate students are subject to these procedures.
