Which universities will be accepting applications in 2025/2026?

Mangosuthu University of Technology is one of the universities that has opened its doors to new undergraduate and postgraduate applicants for the 2025–2026 academic year.

MUT Application Closing Dates For 2025:

  • Faculty of Engineering – first semester applications – 30 September 2024
  • Faculty of Engineering – second-semester applications – 31 August 2024
  • Faculty of Natural Sciences – 30 September 2024
  • Analytical Chemistry – second-semester applications – 31 August 2024
  • Faculty of Management Sciences – 30 September 2024

NB: MUT only considers late applications when there is space for any of the available courses after the aforementioned dates for 2025. Applications submitted after September 30 accumulate a late application fee determined by the CAO.

MUT Online Application (CAO) For 2025

To be considered for admission in 2025, an applicant must complete these steps.

STEP  1:  Get Access to the Internet

  • Go to the website: www.cao.ac.za and click on ‘Apply’
  • Read the information and click on ‘Continue with Application

STEP 2: Log in to Commence

  • Click ‘Submit’ after entering your ID number.
  • ‘Continue with Application’ is located at the bottom of the page.

STEP 3: Provide Your Personal Details

  • Begin entering all of the needed information. Click ‘Next’ once you’ve completed all of the required fields.
  • Select ‘Continue with Online Application’ from the drop-down menu.
  • Your CAO number, password, and EasyPay number will show up in a pop-up window. Read the directions carefully.
  • ‘Continue with Online Application’ should be selected.
  • Then click ‘Next’ after following the instructions and providing all of the needed information.

STEP 4: Next of KIN Details

  • Complete the ‘Next of Kin’ details and click ‘Next’.

STEP 5: Educational Information

  • Insert the school name and click on ‘Search’. The school name will appear in a box, and you must enter the year you attended that school and the year you finished attending that school.
  • Click ‘Next’ to proceed to the next step.

STEP 6: Submit the Online Application

  • When you reach ‘Process My Application’, click on the button. YOUR APPLICATION HAS NOW BEEN SUBMITTED
  • The message on your screen will display that your submission has been successful.

STEP 7: Pay the Application Fee and Upload the Documents

  • You can now pay online and/or upload your supporting documents.
  • Pay via EasyPay.

Can I apply for MUT by hand in 2025?

When applying for admission to a course at MUT, this and many other questions arise. Yes, the answer is yes. Application forms are available for download from the CAO website, www.cao.ac.za. 

  • Fully Fill out the application form and submit it along with the supporting documents listed below.

MUT Admissions Supporting Documents

Upload the following documents during the online application procedure for the 2025–2026 academic year OR submit your application along with your completed application form (hard copy)

South African Candidates

  • National Senior Certificate or Statement of Results
  • Senior Certificate
  • Identity Document
  •  Students transferring from other universities should submit an original academic record and a certificate of good conduct

International Candidates

  • A valid study permit
  • A valid medical aid or health insurance cover
  • A valid passport
  • GCE, GCSE, IGCSE or Cambridge School Certificate
  • Students holding a GCE GCSE, IGCSE, or Cambridge School Certificate must have passed five approved ordinary-level subjects, including the English language, provided three subjects have been passed at the same examination sitting.
