Exciting news for ambitious African students! The Government of Mauritius is now accepting applications for the Mauritius Africa Scholarship Scheme 2024-2025. This prestigious scholarship program offers full funding for deserving students from the African Union and African Commonwealth countries to pursue undergraduate and postgraduate degrees at public universities in Mauritius.

  • Electronic submission: April 19, 2024
  • Hard copy submission: April 26, 2024

Applications and all supporting documents must be forwarded to the Ministry of Education, Tertiary Education, Science, and Technology of the Republic of Mauritius at the address mentioned below for the final selection.

Mauritius Africa Scholarship Eligibility Criteria:

The Mauritius government offers scholarships to deserving students under the following requirements:

Citizenship

  • Resident citizen of an African Union or African Commonwealth country

Age:

  • Undergraduate: 18-26 years old
  • MPhil/PhD: under 40 years old

Academic Qualifications For the Scholarship

To be eligible for the scholarship, you must fulfill or have at least one of the requirements listed below.

  • You must have already applied for a full-time on-campus program at a public higher education institution in Mauritius.
  • At least 21 points at GCE or HSC A-Level
  • Copies of end-of-secondary-school-level educational certificates
  • A minimum of five (5) credits at School Certificate (S.C), General Certificate of Education (G.C.E) ‘O’ Level or International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE)
  • A 2nd Class Honours degree or above in the relevant field, which includes a dissertation or research project

  • Academic excellence
  • Good health

Mauritius Africa Scholarship Benefits:

The scholarship covers the following costs:

  • Full tuition fees
  • A monthly living allowance of MUR 14,200
  • Accommodation allowance
  • Return air ticket
  • Medical insurance

Qualification Funded by the Mauritius Africa Scholarship:

The scholarship will be for the maximum duration listed below. Any costs incurred after the time limits will be the applicant’s responsibility.

Undergraduate

  • Diploma: 3 Years
  • Degree: 4 years

Postgraduate

  • MPhil: Two (2) years
  • PhD: Three (3) years

Mauritius Africa Scholarship Application Requirements

Candidates must send certified copies of the following documents to their local nominating agency along with the completed application form.

  • Birth Certificate
  • Completed Application Form
  • Relevant educational certificates and transcripts. Applicants must produce original certificates to the Ministry within two weeks of their arrival in Mauritius.
  • A medical certificate is to be filled and stamped by a registered medical practitioner in Section 6 of the Application Form
  • Copy of passport biodata page (if available).
  • Copy of letter of conditional offer by a public Higher Education Institution in Mauritius (if available at time of application) OR Copy of receipt from a public Higher Education Institution in Mauritius

How to apply for the Mauritius Africa Scholarship:

  • Apply for admission to an eligible university in Mauritius.
  • Complete the Mauritius Africa Scholarship Scheme application form on the official website at https://www.hec.mu/callforapplicationmass
  • Submit all required documents to your nominating agency.
  • Direct application to the Mauritian Ministry of Education, Tertiary Education, Science & Technology will not be entertained

Nominating Agencies:

  • Each country has a designated nominating agency responsible for applications.
  • Contact your country’s Ministry of Education or relevant authority for details.
