Masakh’iSizwe (MiS) Bursary is open for applications for 2025, open as of April 1, 2024, for prospective and current students studying full-time courses in transport, engineering, and built environment disciplines. No late applications will be accepted.

Field of Studies Funded by Masakh’iSizwe (MiS) Bursary Programme

Masakh’iSizwe (MiS) Bursary provides full funding or bursary opportunities for students pursuing degrees or diplomas in transport, engineering, and built environment disciplines including the following

  • Architecture
  • Construction Management
  • Civil Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current)
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Quantity Surveying
  • Town and Regional Planning
  • Transport Economics
  • Geomatics
  • Property Studies.

Who Can Apply For the Masakh’iSizwe (MiS) Bursary Programme

Applications are open to current students or students starting their studies in 2025 who meet the following eligibility criteria

  • Youth studying engineering and built environment.
  • A South African citizen
  • Students accepted or intending to study at a Higher Education Institution in the Western Cape.
  • Successful applicants must attend workshops, events, outreach programs, and academic experiential training.
  • All applicants must apply for on-campus student accommodation for 2025

Masakh’iSizwe (MiS) Bursary Selection Requirements

  • Accepted at Stellenbosch University, University of Cape Town, Cape Peninsula University of Technology.
  • Must be studying full-time in Degree or Diploma studies at Western Cape Higher Education Institution.
  • Preference given to disabled individuals, financially disadvantaged, female learners, and Western Cape applicants.

Masakh’iSizwe (MiS) Bursary Details and Coverage

The Masakh’iSizwe (MiS) Bursary program’s value will be determined individually and used to cover study-related cost items as follows:

  • Tuition fees
  • Support programmes
  • All prescribed books and materials
  • Accommodation and meals (or transport costs)

Masakh’iSizwe (MiS) Bursary Application Documents Required

Please get the following documents ready to upload when asked or attach them to hardcopy applications

  • Certified ID of the applicant and parents/guardians.
  • Full academic records at HEI.
  • Full course outline for 2025.
  • Estimation of study costs from HEI.
  • Proof of registration/application at HEI.
  • Salary slips or affidavits supporting financial status.
  • Proof of home address (not older than 3 months).
  • Letter of motivation.
  • Proof of financial aid
  • Proof of existing debt
  • Medical proof of disability
  • Criminal record (if applicable, SAPS Police Clearance certificate)

Masakh’iSizwe (MiS) Bursary Application cycle for the academic year 2025 is officially open and all applicants have until 31st August 2024 to submit all required documents.
