Knowing when TVET colleges and universities accept applications is crucial to a seamless and fruitful application process.

When to apply to a University or Tvet College in Kenya 2024-2025

Kenya University Applications 2024-2025

The application process for universities in Kenya commences between March and May 2024, with deadlines varying depending on the institution. Generally, applications for undergraduate programs close between June and August. For postgraduate programs, deadlines may extend into September or October.

Here’s a breakdown of the key dates for university applications:

  • 01 March–30 May 2024: The application period begins
  • 30 June – 31 August 2024: Application deadlines for undergraduate programs
  • September-October: Application deadlines for postgraduate programs

Kenya TVET College Applications 2024-2025

TVET colleges, on the other hand, follow a more flexible application schedule. Applications are typically open throughout the year, with intakes occurring in May, August, and September. However, it’s advisable to inquire with the specific TVET college you’re interested in about their exact application deadlines.

Entry Minimum Requirements to study in a university or Tvet College in Kenya

It’s usually advised to apply as soon as possible and meet all requirements to guarantee a spot in the program of your choice, even though applications may be accepted for a long time.

The requirements for admission to Kenyan universities and TVET colleges vary depending on the course and the institution. However, most programs adhere to a set of minimum requirements.

University Entry Requirements

To be considered for a degree program at a Kenyan university, you must have a minimum of C+ (plain) in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE). Some universities may also require a minimum of C+ in certain specific subjects, depending on the course.

TVET Entry Requirements

To be considered for a diploma or certificate program at a Kenyan TVET college, you must have a minimum of C- (minus) in the KCSE. Some TVET colleges may also require a minimum of a C- in certain specific subjects, depending on the course.

Applying for Placement For 2024-2025

The process for applying for placement at a university or TVET college in Kenya is handled by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS). KUCCPS is responsible for managing the placement of all government-sponsored students. If you are not a government-sponsored student, you will need to apply directly to the individual universities or TVET colleges you are interested in.

Application Fees and Payment Options

For KCSE holders, KUCCPS charges a non-refundable application fee of Ksh 500; for those wishing to change their application courses or programs, it is Ksh 1,500. There are several ways to pay, including bank transfers and M-Pesa.
