Applications are now being accepted for the 2026 academic year at North-West University (NWU). You must be aware of the important dates and application requirements if you want your undergraduate or graduate application to be considered. Important Information for Applying

To apply to NWU, you must at least meet the basic requirements and submit all documents before or on the application deadline.

Step 1: Selection Criteria

You must meet the minimum and faculty requirements of the selected course.
Apply for two study courses on the same form.
Submit only one application form for 2026.
Submit a completed form.

Step 2: Things Required During Application

Grade 12 results, grade 11 results (final results only) or a copy of your matric certificate – if you have already passed matric.
Applicants who are currently upgrading their grade 12 results, will only be considered after the improved results are presented to the NWU.
Applicants who follow Cambridge, GED or any other non-NSC curriculum, or who may qualify for exemption based on advanced age or post-school qualifications, must provide an exemption certificate as issued by USAF.
Copy of your ID
Copy of your academic record (if applicable).

Additional documents for international prospective students:

A copy of relevant results
A copy of your passport.

Step 3: Non-refundable Handling Fee

South African citizen: Free
International students: R550

How to Apply Online for NWU Admission

Follow the guidelines below to apply to NWU:

Visit www.nwu.ac.za.
Select and click on the 2026 application link.
Enter your details to create your student profile.
You will be sent a student number.
Log into the portal to continue your application
Choose your field of study (qualifications).
Complete the application form, providing all the required information.
Upload any necessary documents, such as academic transcripts.
Pay the application fee. (International students only)
Submit your application before the deadline.
Once everything is complete, submit your application.
Upon submission, you will receive a confirmation email
