How To Re-register for NSFAS Bursary 2026
The NSFAS registration portal has reopened for students planning to re-register for the 2026 academic year, starting on September 1, 2025. This re-registration period allows applicants who have secured admission at approved universities or TVET colleges to re-apply after being initially rejected by the scheme
Who is eligible to re-register for funding for 2026?
To qualify for NSFAS funding in 2026, applicants must have a valid South African identification number, which can be obtained through birth or legal status. This is the primary eligibility requirement, with additional criteria outlined for consideration:
- All SASSA grant recipients qualify for funding
- Applicants whose combined household income is not more than R350 000 per annum
- A person with a disability: Combined household income must not be more than R600 000 per annum
- Students who started studying before 2018 and whose household income is not more than R122 000 per annum.
Notice: Please keep in mind that anyone whose status is not listed above does not qualify for NSFAS funding.
Documents Required for NSFAS Re-registration for 2026
Re-registrants must upload or submit the documents listed below to NSFAS for verification and approval.
- A fully completed original NSFAS Application form
- A copy of the ID
- Parents’ or Guardians’ ID
- Proof of income
- A completed and signed Disability Annexure A
- completed and signed the Vulnerable Child Declaration and Consent Form (Vulnerable Child)

How to Re-register for NSFAS Bursary 2026
To be approved for the 2026 funding, you must complete the following steps and submit your form online.
- Go to www.nsfas.org.za, the scheme’s official website.
- Look for the tab labelled myNSFAS.
- Click on the register tab to get started.
- Enter your ID number exactly as it appears on the required document
- Enter your full name, including surname, as it appears on the documents
- Provide a valid and working email address and phone number
- Create a strong password
- Re-enter the password to confirm it
- Upload a copy of your identification document
- Select the Register tab.
- A message with a One Time Password will be sent to your email or phone number
- You must enter this OTP in the field provided
- Finally, to finish the registration process, click the submit button
