How Do I Start A New Application At UP For 2026

The University of Pretoria has begun accepting applications for all undergraduate and postgraduate courses, including first-year and senior students. If you are applying for the first time and need assistance, this page explains the application process.

Before beginning your online application, ensure that you have the following:

A valid email address: You will receive a student number (EMPLID) upon submitting your application.

How to Apply

Follow the guidelines below to apply now to study at the University of Pretoria:

Go to www.up.ac.za and click on Apply Now.
Choose “Start New Application” from the menu.
Review the privacy notice and click OK.
Complete all the required fields with your details.
Double-check the characters in the security code field.
Carefully read the disclaimer that appears and click OK.
Check your email for ID and temporary password
Change the password (optional).

Complete the Application Form:

Log in with your ID and password.
Complete all required fields.
Upload all necessary documents in the correct formats (see the list below)

Pay the non-refundable application fee:

R300 for South African students
USD 30 for international students
The fee may be waived if the applicant’s household income is below R150,000 annually.

Submit a fully completed application form:

Once all sections are completed and documents are uploaded, click Submit to finalize your application.
