Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) Application  Dates For 2024-2025

If you want to apply for any of the Health Sciences courses in 2024-2025, you must do so by the deadlines listed below.

31 August 2023: Applications for Admission and Housing close for Faculty of Health Sciences programmes

  • Applications close for ALL Faculty of Health Sciences applications.
  • Deadline for writing the Health Sciences National Benchmark Tests (NBTs)- 28 August 2023
  • Any applicants who write their NBTs as late as the last 3 dates – 11 Sep, 18 Sep, 2 Oct – these applications will be assessed with the final NSC results in Jan/Feb 2024

31 August 2023: Deadline for Applicants to Request Programme Choice

  • You may elect to apply for a different programme until the 31st of August 2023.

31 October 2023: Submission Deadline of Interim Results to Central Admissions

  • For applicants finishing secondary school in 2023: all grade 12 interim results or predicted scores in the case of non-NSC applicants are due.
  • For students currently studying at a tertiary institution: certified photocopied transcripts containing results for all years of study as well as 2023 interim results are due.

15 November 2023: Deadline for Offers to International Undergraduate Applicants Requiring a Study Visa.

  • Last date on which the Faculty of Health Sciences can make an offer to an international undergraduate applicant requiring a study visa.

31 December 2023: Submission Deadline of Final Transcripts and Non-NSC Results to Central Admissions

  • Non-NSC school leaving final results (except CIE, ZIMSEC and NSSC): must be submitted as certified paper documents.
  • For students currently studying at a tertiary institute: submission of final transcripts as certified paper documents.

15 January 2024: Final Results from 2023 are due

  • Final CIE, ZIMSEC and NSSC results from the November 2023 sessions are due.
  • Results need to be submitted as certified paper documents to Central Admissions

UCT Faculty of Health Sciences Entry Requirements for 2024-2025

To be considered for admission into the FHS, you must meet the following requirements

National Benchmark Test (NBT)

  • Applicants applying for admission to a programme in the Faculty of Health Sciences must write the NBTs, wherever they may reside.
  • You must register for the NBTs before you apply online, or before you submit a paper application form, include your NBT registration number in your application;
  •  You must write the NBTs by 15 October 2023 for all faculties; except Health Sciences which requires you to write by 31 July 2023 if you wish to be considered for a conditional offer (those who write after this date will be assessed when the final 2023 National Senior Certificate (NSC) results are released in January 2024)

English Language

You must have one of the following certificates:

  • A valid (no more than 3 years old) NBT Academic Literacy Test Plus report with an overall score of Upper Intermediate or above.
  • A valid (no more than 2 years old) TOEFL iBT Score Report with an overall score of 88 or above, with at least 19 in Listening, 19 in Writing, 20 in Reading, and 22 in Speaking.
  • A valid (no more than 2 years old) IELTS Academic Test Report Form with an overall score of band 6.5 or above, with at least 6.0 in each component.
  • A valid (no more than 2 years old) PTE Academic Score Report with an overall score of 67 or above, with at least 59 in each communicative skills component.

Admissions Points Score (APS)

  • The percentages achieved in National Senior Certificate examinations (preliminary and final examinations) will be allocated an admission score equal to that percentage.
  • The sum of 6 subjects, excluding Life Orientation, but including English and any required subject(s) for the relevant programme, is considered when deciding on admission.

Application Documents Required for FHS Courses Applications

You should have the following documents when applying to the Faculty of Health Sciences for 2024

  • Current learners at school must make sure that all examination results from Grade 11 until September of grade 12 are submitted. Failure to submit these results may result in delays.
  • Transferring students should submit all transcripts and academic records as early as possible.
  • Documents must be submitted as certified electronic copies to admissions-ug@uct.ac.za (undergraduate applicants

STEP 3: Complete Online Application Forms

  • Gather your documents or upload any that are missing or incomplete.
  • Fill out an application form (manual applications only)
