When UJ Opens and Closes 2027 Applications – All the details

We are excited to announce the opening of the University of Johannesburg (UJ) 2027 admissions. Prospective students who wish to start a new qualification are invited to apply from 1 April 2026. Both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes are available for application. Apply as early as possible to secure your spot.

When Is the Closing Date for UJ 2027 Applications?

30 September 2026 – International applicants
31 October 2026 – South African applicants

What You Need to Apply to UJ

To successfully complete your application, make sure you have the following:

An active and accessible email address (for OTP verification and communication).
A valid postal address.
A smartphone, tablet, or computer.
A stable internet connection.
A working mobile phone number.

Who Can Study at the University of Johannesburg (UJ) in 2027?

The following applicants may apply to study at the University of Johannesburg (UJ) for the 2027 academic year, provided they meet the minimum entry requirements:

Grade 11 learners
Grade 12 students
International students
Transfer students
Postgraduate candidates
Students with special needs

Application Supporting Documents

Applicants must upload certified copies of the following documents when applying:

South African Applicants

A certified copy of your South African ID
A certified copy of your Grade 12 (NSC) results (if you have completed Grade 12)
A certified copy of your Grade 11 final results (if you are currently in Grade 12)
A valid and working email address

International Applicants

A certified copy of your identification document from your home country
A certified copy of your passport
A valid study visa for South Africa
A medical report
Proof of English proficiency (if your previous studies were not conducted in English):
- IELTS with a minimum overall score of 6.0
- TOEFL with a minimum score of 80–104

Cost of Application

The University of Johannesburg (UJ) does not charge an application fee for online applications for either undergraduate or postgraduate studies. The online application process is free of charge.

Note: Manual applicants are required to pay a non-refundable and non-transferable application fee of R200.

Applicants are encouraged to apply online to avoid paying the manual application fee.

All applicants are encouraged to submit their applications online through the official application portal of the University of Johannesburg (UJ) at applications.uj.ac.za. Please do not apply by email.

Hand delivery is only accepted for manual (paper-based) applications
