The APS system helps students determine if they qualify for:

- A specific programme offered by a faculty
How APS Is Calculated
APS is calculated by adding the achievement levels of six recognised 20-credit subjects from your NSC results.
Important:
- Life Orientation is not included in APS calculations.
APS Achievement Levels
| NSC Achievement Level | NSC Percentage | Senior Certificate (Higher Grade) | Senior Certificate (Standard Grade) | APS | NC(V) |
| 7 | 80–99% | A | 7 | 7 | 5 |
| 6 | 70–79% | B | A | 6 | 4 |
| 5 | 60–69% | C | B | 5 | 3 |
