TUT 2027 Application Window Dates
The Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) 2027 application cycle opens on April 1, 2026, and will close on September 30, 2026 for all programmes.
Applications submitted after September 30, 2026, will only be considered if there are still available spaces in the chosen course. Prospective students are therefore strongly encouraged to apply and register as early as possible to secure their place for the 2027 academic year.
Tshwane University of Technology Application Fee
Yes, Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) requires all applicants, both first-time and returning students, applying for undergraduate, Masterâs, or Doctoral programmes to pay a non-refundable application fee of R240.
The application form will remain inactive and cannot be submitted until this fee has been paid, so ensure you complete this step to successfully proceed with your TUT application.

What Documents Are Needed to Apply at TUT?
The following documents are required to apply to Tshwane University of Technology (TUT):
- Proof of payment.
Certified copies of your:
- Identity document (South African ID or passport for international students)
- Senior Certificate/National Senior Certificate (or equivalent qualification)
- Any other relevant documents as specified by the program you are applying to.

How to Submit a TUT Application Online 2027
Before you begin:
Verify your contact information.
- Log in to the ITS system.
- Click on “Applications.”
- Click on “Communication Detail and Address Validation (Postal Address).”
- Update your information to ensure accurate communication.
Step 1: Apply for TUT 2027.Â
- Visit the TUT website at www.tut.ac.za
- Click on the âApply Nowâ button in the top right corner of the screen.
- Select whether you have a student number or not (if this is your first time applying, you will not have a student number yet).
- Select whether you are returning to complete an application.
- Select if you have a Qualification Specific Token (this token was only given to specific students to show them a predefined list of qualifications).
- Click âI Acceptâ on the consent form.
- Follow the instructions given throughout the application.
Step 2: Upload the required documents:
- Prepare your documentsâscan all certified documents as PDF files, making sure each file is under 520,000 bytes.
- Access the portalâclick on the upload link and log in using your student number and PIN.
- Navigate to the upload sectionâgo to âCertificate Seenâ â âLoad/View Documentsâ â âUpload Documents.”
- Upload your fileâbrowse your device, select the PDF document, and save it.
- Important: Avoid uploading the same document multiple times.

TUT Admission Requirements
Generally, TUT requires the following minimum qualifications:
- For Bachelor’s degrees:
- A minimum Admission Point Score (APS) of 26 is required, with Mathematics.
- If you have Mathematical Literacy instead of Mathematics, you’ll need a minimum APS of 28.
- For National Diplomas:
- A minimum APS of 1500 is required, with a sub-minimum of at least 460 for critical reading, mathematics, and writing.
The admission requirements at Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) vary per course. A higher APS is required since some courses may require significantly more points than the minimum requirements
Here are some additional things to keep in mind:
- Applicants with an APS lower than the minimum requirement may still be considered for admission through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).
- Applicants with a score of 22 to 23 may be required to write a TUT Potential Assessment Test (TUTPA) and be interviewed by a departmental panel.
- Applicants with an APS of 24 or more will be considered for admission without an academic proficiency test but will still be interviewed by a departmental selection panel.
