Key Dates & Deadlines for UKZN Applications

The University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) will accept applications for undergraduate degrees, including Higher Certificates, Diplomas, Advanced Diplomas, and Bachelor’s degrees, as well as postgraduate degrees, including master’s and doctoral degrees, for the 2026 academic year from April 1 to September 30, 2025

To apply for MBChB, applications must be submitted by June 30, 2025, as no late submissions will be accepted

UKZN Application Fees Breakdown for 2026

This is a breakdown of the UKZN application fees for the 2026 academic cycle:

South African applicants:

  • On-time applications: R210
  • Late applications: R420

International applicants:

  • SADC and rest of Africa: R490
  • Outside Africa: $153

Important notes:

Current students: If you were registered in the previous academic year, you won’t need to pay an application fee.

  • Pay the application fee.

Application Documents Required for UKZN 2026

Please include the following documents with your upload (where applicable):

  • Certified copy of your ID or passport.
  • Certified copy of your National Senior/Matric Certificate, O/A Levels, or relevant school leaving qualification or certificate.
  • Proof from Universities South Africa (previously known as HESA) that you qualify for admission to degree studies at South African universities if you are an international applicant. For more information, refer to the undergraduate prospectus
  • Certified copies of your degree certificate(s), academic record, and certificate of conduct if you attended other universities.
  • Proof of English proficiency is required for international applicants from non-English-speaking countries.
  • South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) evaluations if the previous qualification(s) were obtained at foreign universities (outside South Africa).
  • A research proposal or proposed title of the dissertation or thesis if you are applying for a Masters Degree or PhD.
  • A valid study visa is required to study in SA if you are an international applicant.
  • Before applying online, please make sure that you have read the guidelines above.
  • Please ensure that you have the USAF/SAQA documents to be uploaded in order to complete your application.
  • Please ensure to use the reference APPN (followed by your student number) when making the application fee payments.
  • Please allow the system 24 hrs to 48 hrs to clear your payment.
