How to Apply Online to the University of Zululand for the 2025 Intake
To apply online for the 2025–2026 academic year, take the following steps:
Step 1: Login Information
- Go to www.cao.ac.za and click on the Apply button.
- Carefully fill out your personal information.
- Provide a valid email address. For security and communication purposes, a valid email address is essential.
- Failure to provide a genuine email address may result in severe penalties.
Step 2: Choose your Desired Qualification
- Select the qualifications and assessment section(s) that are relevant to you.
Step 3: Choose your Payment Method
- Decide on a payment method. You will be transferred to a third-party payment provider if you are paying by credit or debit card. The CAO system will not keep any payment card information.
Step 4: Password (Strong Password)
- Make a password for yourself. You can use the forgotten password feature if you forget your password. To automatically reset your password, you’ll need your CAO application number, date of birth, and your account’s registered email address.
Step 5: Begin your Application
- You must then click on ‘Proceed with application’ to obtain your CAO application number.

- A National Senior Certificate is the minimum prerequisite for admission (NSC)
- An old Senior Certificate with an annotation stating that the possessor has met the statutory matriculation
