www.nsfas.org.za online application 2024/2025:

All undergraduate applicants who have completed their higher education and intend to continue their studies are encouraged to apply for financial assistance through the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS). Candidates who meet the program’s requirements and qualifications are accepted.

When Should You Apply for a Nsfas 2024/2025 Bursary and Loan?

New applications for the Scheme will be accepted from September 28 2023 to January 31 2024. Applicants interested in applying for the fund at the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) must gather all necessary documentation before the opening dates in order to submit their applications as soon as possible. This is significant because students submit a large number of applications each year. If you apply early, your chances of being accepted for a fund increase.

What are the NSFAS Documents for Online Applications?

All applicants must provide these documents as part of the application procedure. Your application will be deemed invalid and not eligible for funding if it contains forged or invalid documentation. Before submitting, these documents must be properly formatted and certified.

  • Copy of your ID or birth certificate
  • ID copies of parents, guardians or spouse of an Applicant
  • An Applicant must provide proof of income or 1 year’s IRP5 (if applicable)
  • Applicant’s parents, guardian or spouse’s proof of income
  • If an applicant is a SASSA grant recipient, no proof of income will be required
  • The applicant with a disability must submit a completed and signed Disability Annexure A Form, the form is accessible online.
  • An applicant who is recognized as a Vulnerable Child by the Department of Social Development must provide a completed and signed Vulnerable Child Declaration and Consent Form.

Who Does Not Qualify to Apply for NSFAS?

Although the program is intended to assist all qualified applicants who require financial aid to support their post-secondary studies for the academic year 2023–2024. Not every student may apply for the fund. check the list below

  • Students that have completed a previous qualification.
  • Students with a combined household income of more than R350 000 per year.
  • Students who have already applied, qualified and received funding. They are automatically funded for the duration of their studies provided they pass their modules and meet the academic requirements.
  • Foreign students (any student who is not a South African citizen).

NSFAS 2024 Application Process

Follow the processes below to apply now for 2024

step 1: Login Information

  • Get access to the internet
  • Enter www.nsfas.org.za and locate the myNSFAS button
  • Click on this tab to open the application page for you to begin

Step 2: myNSFAS Accout

Applicants are to create an account in order to access the myNSFAS portal. Follow these steps to create your account

  1. Log onto www.nsfas.org.za and click on the myNSFAS tab.
  2. Click on register. Tick on the acceptance option to allow NSFAS to verify and validate the information you provided.
  3. Type in your ID number as it appears on your ID document.
  4. Type in your name and surname as they appear on your ID Document.
  5. Type in your email address and cellphone number. Your username will be your email address.
  6. Create a password and confirm your password.
  7. Upload a copy of your ID.
  8. Click on register.
  9. After clicking register, a One Time Pin (OTP) will be sent to the email address and cellphone number you provided.
  10. Check your cell phone and email for the OTP.
  11. Type in the OTP in the tab provided and click submit.
  12. You will then receive another SMS and email confirming that your myNSFAS account has been created. You may now continue with your application.

Step 3: Apply Now

  • Complete the sections on the screen by clicking on the Apply Tab

Step 4: Required Documents and submit an application

  • Upload required supporting documents where applicable and click on ‘Submit’

 

What are the academic prerequisites for Nsfas?

An applicant must have completed Grades 9 through 12 to be eligible for NSFAS funding to attend a TVET college, and Grade 12 to be eligible for financing to attend a university or TVET college. If your application for funding is approved, you must meet the academic admission standards of the university or TVET college before receiving any funding from NSFAS.
