What Documents Do I Need To Apply For NSFAS Bursary 2026

It is critical to understand the appropriate documentation and how to submit it to qualify for NSFAS financial assistance for the 2026 school year. The application portal is open from September 1, 2025, to December 15, 2025. Because late applications will not be considered for funding, please submit your application and all of the materials specified in this post before the deadline.

To submit documentation for the current 2026 application cycle, visit the official NSFAS website, www.nsfas.org.za. You can also submit to your current institution’s admissions office. When submitting your documents online, ensure that you follow the NSFAS guidelines.

Documents Required For NSFAS 2026 Applications

You need to provide the documents below to NSFAS during the application period

  • A valid South African ID, birth certificate, or proof of citizenship
  • Proof of family income
  • Employer proof of income or 1 year’s IRP5
  • Matric certificate or latest academic results
  • Your own cellphone number and email address
  • A letter of acceptance or proof of registration from your chosen institution
  • Parents’ ID copies, proof of income, and other relevant documents
  • If you are a SASSA grant recipient, no proof of income will be required
  • Applicants with a disability must submit a completed and signed Disability Annexure A Form.
  • An applicant who is recognized as a Vulnerable Child by the Department of Social Development must provide a completed and signed Vulnerable Child Declaration and Consent Form

  • Visit your myNSFAS account.
  • Log in with your username and password.
  • Locate the document upload section.
  • Select each document from your file by choosing the “browse” option
  • Upload all the documents one after the other
