It is critical to understand the appropriate documentation and how to submit it to qualify for NSFAS financial assistance for the 2026 school year. The application portal is open from September 1, 2025, to December 15, 2025. Because late applications will not be considered for funding, please submit your application and all of the materials specified in this post before the deadline.

Documents Required For NSFAS 2026 Applications

You need to provide the documents below to NSFAS during the application period

A valid South African ID, birth certificate, or proof of citizenship
Proof of family income
Employer proof of income or 1 year’s IRP5
Matric certificate or latest academic results
Your own cellphone number and email address
A letter of acceptance or proof of registration from your chosen institution
Parents’ ID copies, proof of income, and other relevant documents
If you are a SASSA grant recipient, no proof of income will be required
Applicants with a disability must submit a completed and signed Disability Annexure A Form.
An applicant who is recognized as a Vulnerable Child by the Department of Social Development must provide a completed and signed Vulnerable Child Declaration and Consent Form
