Before you apply:
These instructions must be followed before submitting an online application to the UJ.
- Valid email address (e.g., Gmail or Yahoo).
- Have all of the prerequisites for study options been met? For additional information on minimum entrance criteria, see the 2026 Undergraduate Prospectus.
- If Grade 12 is completed, certified and individually scanned documents are required.
- When applying online, the following documents must be uploaded (not relevant to applicants currently in grade 12 or internal transfer/senior applicants):
- Certification is required for all documents.
- Make sure the scanned file is no larger than 512 KB.
- All materials are scanned in a variety of formats, including tiff, pdf, jpg, and gif.
- Each document must be scanned and attached as a separate file.
- Documents can also be emailed to ujappdocs@listsrv.uj.ac.za with the provisional reference or student number included in the subject line.
How to apply Online to University of Johannesburg 2026
Follow the steps below to apply to the University of Johannesburg (UJ) online for the academic intake of 2026:
STEP 1: Login Information
- Access the internet.
- Enter “www.uj.ac.za/apply” in the search box.
- Select “New Applicant” from the drop-down menu.
- To indicate your student number, select yes or no from the drop-down box.
- To indicate if you’re returning to finish an unfinished application, select Yes or No from the drop-down menu.
STEP 2: Courses Selection
- Choose your course after examining the specific course requirements. This stage is very key to gaining admission to this university. Consult people if you don’t know what to choose.
- If applicable, enter a qualification token.
Step 3: Agree with the University Trustees
- Read the clause that appears.
- Select “I Accept” from the drop-down menu.
- To continue, select the “Next” option.
STEP 4: Applicant’s Information
- Fill in your passport or ID number.
- fill in the missing information
- To move on to the next page, click “save and continue.”
Step 5: Upload the Required Documents and Submit a fully completed form
- Documents to be uploaded (Ensure they are in prescribed formats.)
- Submit your application by Clicking on the Submit
University of Johannesburg (UJ) Application Fee
Good news for prospective University of Johannesburg (UJ) students! Applying for the 2026 academic year online is completely free of charge. No need to dig into your pockets; simply submit your application electronically, and you’re good to go.
However, if you prefer the old-fashioned paper route, there’s a non-refundable fee of R200 for hardcopy applications. So, unless you have a special fondness for filing cabinets, going digital is the clear winner in terms of cost-effectiveness.

Step 1: Choose Course
- Choose between options 1 and 2 for your qualification study. (Please make sure you meet the entrance standards outlined in this prospectus.)
Step 2: Payment of Application FEE
- If you don’t already have a UJ student number, pay the R200 application fee and fill out the UJ academic application form.
Step 3: Submit the fully completed application form
- Submit your application to one of the University of Jacksonville’s four campuses. Please wait three weeks before contacting us to inquire about the status of your application. If your application satisfies the minimum standards and space is available in your desired program, you will be notified if your application was successful or not.
