UJ 2026 Application Overview for International Students
International students may officially apply to the University of Johannesburg (UJ) for the 2026 academic year. The University of Johannesburg offers undergraduate, graduate, and honorary degree programs. Choose a course to study for the upcoming calendar year 2026, but you must meet the admission standards to be considered.
Opening Date: Applications for all undergraduate and postgraduate programs at UJ for the 2026 academic year are now open as of April 1, 2025.
Application Deadline:
- Undergraduate Programs: Applications for undergraduate programs at the University of Johannesburg will close on October 31, 2025.
- Postgraduate Programs: The deadline for postgraduate applications is October 31, 2025, at noon. Note that some programs have earlier deadlines, such as:
- MEng/MPhil in Engineering Management (Coursework)
- BA Hons in Industrial Psychology
- BCom Hons in Financial Planning, Human Resource Management, Marketing Management, Investment Management, and other listed programs (apply by September 30, 2025).
How to Apply for Undergraduate Programs
Undergraduate applicants must submit their applications online by following the steps outlined below:
Step 1: Create a Profile
- Access the application portal at www.uj.ac.za/Apply.
- Select “New Applicant” from the drop-down menu.
- If you are returning to complete an unfinished application, choose “Yes/No” accordingly.
Step 2: Choose Your Desired Program
- Browse through the available undergraduate courses and review the specific program requirements. Choose your desired course carefully.
- You can select two course options if you wish.
- If applicable, enter a qualification token (provided by UJ) to indicate your chosen program.
Step 3: Agree to Terms and Conditions
- Read through the terms and conditions.
- Select “I Accept” to proceed.
Step 4: Complete the Application Form
- Fill in your passport or ID number and other required personal details.
- Click “Save and Continue” to move to the next page.
Step 5: Upload Documents and Submit
- Upload the necessary documents in the prescribed format (PDF, TIFF, JPG, or GIF). Documents must not exceed 512KB in size.
- Review your application and click “Submit” to complete your application.

How to Apply for Postgraduate Programs
To apply for postgraduate programs, follow the same online application process as for undergraduate applicants, or download the application form and submit it via mail or in person to the UJ Student Enrolment Center.
- Online applications are free of charge.
- Hardcopy applications require a non-refundable application fee of R200.

Degree Applicants:
- International applicants must have a South African National Senior Certificate with a degree endorsement or an equivalent qualification.
