Applications are now being accepted for the 2026 academic year at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN). You must be aware of the important dates and application requirements if you want your undergraduate or graduate application to be considered. This guide covers everything from application dates to costs and documentation submission.

Important Information for Applying

To apply to UKZN, you must at least meet the basic requirement and submit all documents before or on the application deadline

Step 1: Selection Criteria

You must meet the minimum and the faculty requirements of the selected course.
Apply for two study courses on the same form
Submit only one application form for 2026
Submit a completed form

Step 2. Things Required During Application

Grade 12 certificate
ID/passport
Proof of application fee payment

Step 3. Non-refundable Handling Fee

Application submitted before or on 30 September: R250
Application submitted after 31 October: R470

Step 4. Payment Methods

Online: Follow the on-screen instructions to pay online.
Offline: Pay at the EasyPay outlet with your CAO number.

How to Apply Online for UKZN Admission

Follow the guidelines below to apply to UKZN

Visit www.cao.ac.za
Select and click on the 2026 application link
Enter your details to create your CAO profile.
Select “UKZN” as your preferred institution.
Choose your field of study (qualifications).
Complete the application form, providing all the required information.
Upload any necessary documents, such as academic transcripts.
Pay the application fee.
Submit your application before the deadline.
Once everything is complete, submit your application.
Upon submission, you will receive a confirmation email containing your student number (EMPLID).

UKZN Foreign Applicants

For international applicants, you need to apply directly to UKZN using the International Application Form. Don’t forget to include the following:

Proof of payment of the application fee
Certified copies of all academic documents
A valid passport or identity document
