There is no application fee, as far as we know! The University of the Free State (UFS) does not charge any application fees. Keep in mind that legal UFS applications will never require payment of a processing or handling fee before processing an application from any applicant, regardless of location. Only accepted applicants will have to pay for registration. This is not a pre-application; it is a post-application.

UFS 2026 Registration Fees: A Breakdown by Student Region

UFS offers flexible 10-week sessions with varying registration fees based on your origin.

South African students pay a flat rate of R3,040 per session.
Students from SADC countries pay slightly higher fees of R3,485 per session, due two weeks before each session.
Students from outside the SADC region pay the highest rate of R6,520 per session.

Remember, these fees are for registration only, and additional costs may apply depending on your chosen program and other factors.
