Applications to UCT for 2026 are now open……. Excellent news for those interested in studying at the University of Cape Town during the academic year 2026! The application cycle starts from Tuesday, April 2, 2025, to Thursday, August 31, 2025. We encourage you to complete your application form on the UCT website.

Applicants can choose to apply for two programs using a single application form, which increases your chances of admission. These choices can be from the same faculty or different ones

Accessing and Applying to University of Cape Town (UCT) for 2026 Admission

The University of Cape Town (UCT) offers an online application process for 2026 admissions. Applicants need a device with internet access, an email address, and a contact number to apply. Applications commence on April 2, 2025. Completing all required fields is necessary for submission. Certain courses may require additional documents. Alternatively, applicants can obtain a paper application form, complete it manually, and submit it with attached documents for panel review.

The University of Cape Town Online Application Form 2026

The official application window for UCT opens on April 2, 2025. It’s vital to submit your application as soon as possible, as some undergraduate programs may close early, specifically on July 31, 2025.

Late Applications 2026

UCT (UNIVERSITY OF CAPE TOWN) understands that many people will be unable to meet the deadline. As a result, depending on space availability after the closing date, a second application window may occasionally be available for such applicants.

For international students, it’s essential to submit a certified copy of your final results, as well as proof of medical insurance and a valid study visa.

University of Cape Town (UCT) Online Application Form

The University of Cape Town strongly encourages all candidates to apply online. You will need internet access, an email address, and a phone number in order to apply. Before proceeding to the next section, be sure that all mandatory fields have been filled out. Nevertheless, you can complete the application form with a pen by downloading the PDF version.

Every application must be accompanied by an application fee. Unless applying to a Graduate School of Business (GSB) programme, UCT students and graduates, as well as Semester Study Abroad (SSA) applicants, are exempt from the application fee.

Current students must ensure that all examination results from Grade 11 through September of Grade 12 are submitted. Delays may occur if these results are not submitted on time.
All transcripts and academic records for transfer students should be submitted as soon as possible.

Final school-leaving results to UCT

If you took the South African National Senior Certificate (NSC) for your matric, UCT would receive your results directly from the examination authority. If you have an international qualification, you should send a final, certified copy of your results to admissions-ug@uct.ac.za. Please keep in mind that UCT may need your help to verify your results, in which case UCT will contact you.

Eligibility and Documentation

To be eligible for undergraduate or postgraduate courses for the 2026 intake, applicants should meet the specific admission requirements for their desired programs. All applications must include the relevant application fee, which varies depending on your location.

Application Fees

  • Undergraduate and postgraduate applications from South Africa and the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region (R100)
  • Undergraduate and postgraduate applications from outside the SADC region: R300
  • Graduate School of Business (GSB) applications from South Africa and African citizens and residents: R1 940
  • GSB applications from outside of Africa: USD 300

Documents Needed

Applicants to UCT’s undergraduate programs must submit the following documents:

  • A certified copy of your Identity Document/first card’s page.
  • Evidence of your highest level of education.
  • International students must provide proof of medical insurance and a valid study visa for the duration of their studies.
  • Evidence of application fee payment

How to pay the application fee online at UCT For 2026

For your convenience, payment can be made in one of three ways:

  • Online by credit card
  • EFT (electronic funds transfer)
  • By direct deposit into our bank account

Please Note:

  • Application fees will not be refunded. Paying an application fee does not mean that your application will be successful.
  • The application fee may be paid by cash, credit card, direct bank deposit, or electronic funds transfer (EFT). Cash payments must be made at the Cashiers Office, Kramer Building, Middle Campus, UCT.
    Credit card payments must be made online.

How to Apply to UCT for 2026

If you are looking for an undergraduate degree, you can apply online. To apply online, you must have a valid email address as well as your South African identity number or, if you are an international applicant, your passport number. All postgraduate applicants must apply online rather than on paper.

You can also print and fill out the application form, which can be found on the application forms page, before submitting it in person or by mail. To be considered for the 2026 academic intake, please submit all application materials before the deadline, as the University of Cape Town cannot guarantee late applications.

  • Select a qualification and any additional criteria.
  • Choose your course after examining the specific course requirements. This stage is very key to gaining admission into this University
  • Gather your paperwork or upload any missing or incomplete documents.
  • Download an application form (manual applications only)
  • Fill out your application completely (manual and online)
  • The application fee must be paid (where applicable). See above for how to pay the UCT application fee.
  • Submit your completed form as well as any supporting papers (manuals and online applications). Review to ensure the right thing is done before clicking on the Button or sending the hardcopy either by mail or hand delivery
