The Durban University of Technology (DUT) 2026 online application window will officially open to the public on Tuesday, April 1, 2025. You are hereby encouraged to submit your application and all other supporting materials by the deadline so you can study in 2026. The application deadline for all undergraduate study programs is November 30, 2025, except for a few programs that close earlier than November 30. Before selecting a course, all potential candidates must check that they satisfy the entry requirements for that specific course.

Applying to Durban University of Technology for 2026

Durban University of Technology (DUT) admits students depending on their academic status and space availability. Before applying, ensure that you meet the minimum requirements for the course of study you intend to pursue. Meeting them does not ensure acceptance, but it increases your chances.

What are the minimum academic requirements for a bachelor’s degree at DUT?

Before you consider applying for University, you must have

  • National Senior Certificate (NSC) as certified by the Council for General and Further Education and Training (Umalusi), with at least a 3 in English and a 4 in four NSC 20-credit subjects chosen from the NSC designated subject list.

Applying for a study course at DUT for 2026

Students who wish to apply for both undergraduate and postgraduate programs should do so separately for the academic year 2026 and provide the necessary documentation for each. Applicants will, however, only pay one application fee for both qualifications.

Application Fee

South African applicants to Durban University of Technology (DUT) are required to pay a non-refundable application fee of R250.00, while international applicants must pay an R300 non-refundable fee. When making the payment, it’s important to use your student ID number as the reference. To ensure your application is considered, make sure to apply before the deadlines, as late applications will not be accepted. DUT will only accept applications between April 1 and November 30, 2025.

The Durban University of Technology Application Requirements For 2026

Below are the documents to be attached for undergraduate and postgraduate Applicants

  • Transcripts for grades 11 and 12, final certificates for grades 11 and 12 (June/Trial report if you haven’t taken your final test), and your identity document must all be uploaded in certified copies
  • Proof of payment of the compulsory and non-refundable application fee

Postgraduate

  • Matric exemption certificate (including subject marks)
  • ID document passport, work permit or Study permit
  • Diploma/Degree certificate/s
  • Comprehensive academic record (indicating marks obtained for subjects)
  • Certificate of registration with the relevant professional council (if applicable)

How to manually apply for DUT for 2026 academic intake

Download the application form from www.cao.ac.za and submit it. Fill out the form completely, answering all questions in black ink (pen). Check that the names on your identity document (ID) and certificates are the same and in the same order, and include the aforementioned documents before submitting them to the Central Application Office.

How to Apply for DUT Online Application 2026

  • A prospective student interested in studying at DUT should apply through the CAO, which can be found at www.cao.ac.za.)
  • Please complete the CAO application form online and attach or upload certified copies of your identity document as well as your final Grade 11 and Grade 12 certificates (June/Trial Report if you have not yet written your final exams).

Minimum requirements for admission at the Durban University of Technology.
