With its headquarters situated in the center of South Africa’s Winelands, Stellenbosch University is happy to announce that it will begin accepting applications for undergraduate programs on April 1, 2024. Examine the many undergraduate programs offered in the humanities, sciences, engineering, and social sciences. Vital Information for All Applicants before beginning the online Application
An Applicant;
- Must meet the most basic academic requirements for a bachelor’s degree
- You must also meet the minimum requirements and selection criteria for the programme(s) you apply for.
- You must know that SU receives thousands of applications a year, but their space is limited. Even if you meet all the admission requirements, they may not be able to accommodate you.
When to Apply for Admission at Stellenbosch University
SU Application Opening Dates: Applications are open for undergraduate programmes from 1 April 2024. Prospective applicants can access the application portal to begin their online application process after April 1, 2024.
Stellenbosch University Application Closing Dates
All completed application forms and other supporting documents must reach the university before the stipulated deadlines for 2024. Application forms after these dates will not be considered for admission.
- Closing date for undergraduate programmes and residence applications: 31 July 2024
- Applications close for Stellenbosch University financial assistance: 30 November 2024
- Applications close for Diploma in Public Accountability (Telematic Education): 15 December 2024
Do you need funds? NSFAS bursary applications (NSFAS) determine these dates; not the University) However, the scheme usually opens their application every month between September and January 2024. Applicants are advised to constantly check the official website for the opening and closing dates for the 2025–2026 academic year.
The Approved Number of Courses an Applicant can apply for 2025-2026
An applicant has the option to:
- Apply for up to three programmes from any faculty.
- The applicant will be considered for all three of those programmes, and if he/she qualifies, multiple offers will be granted. An Applicant must accept one of the offers by the date communicated to him/her in the offer letter
- If two of the programmes an applicant have selected have extensive selection criteria, an applicant can choose a third programme that is not on that list to improve your chances of receiving an offer.

Required Documents From 2025 Applicants
To apply online, the following documents must be uploaded before the deadline.
South African student
- Proof of payment for the R100 application fee, only if you pay offline
- A completed student support form (Disability Applicant)
- Final grade 11 assessment results as per the Department of Education guidelines.
- National Senior Certificate (NSC) or IEB/Statement of symbols of final school results
International Applicants
- Proof of permanent residency, refugee or asylum-seeking status
- Grade 11 results (pre-final) and final-year school subjects with levels
- Final school results from the International Curriculum (Cambridge International, International Baccalaureate, etc.), including School of Tomorrow.
- Additional subject and rewrite results.
Other Supporting Documents:
- Final school-leaving results
- Proof of registration
- Full academic transcript for each academic year completed, including grades.
- Relevant certificates and full academic transcript for each year of enrolment, including grades
- Diploma(s) and full academic transcript for each year of enrolment, including grades
- B degree certificate(s) and full academic transcript for each year of enrolment, including grades.
- Honours degree certificate(s) and full academic transcript for each year of enrolment, including grades.
- Master’s degree certificate(s) and full academic transcript for each year of enrolment, including grades (where applicable.

How to Apply online at SU for 2025-2026
Prospective applicants are encouraged to follow these steps to apply online to Stellenbosch University for the 2025 academic intake:
Step 1: Login Information
- Go to the Stellenbosch University Application website: http://www.sun.ac.za/
- At the top menu of the page, click on the “Students” tab
Step 2: Choose your Courses
- Select your qualification (YOUR COURSES YOU WANT TO OFFER)
- Explore your programme option. You may apply for up to three programmes from any faculty.
- Make sure you meet the requirement for your selected programme.
Step 3: Fill out The Application Form
- Click on the “Apply” tab. You must apply before the closing date
- Complete your online application form. You will need an e-mail address and phone number so that SU can contact you
- As soon as you create your profile, you can follow the system prompts to proceed with your online application immediately.
Step 4: Upload the Required Documents
- Upload all the supporting documents
- Please complete the application carefully and make sure you give SU accurate information.
Step 5: Submit Your Fully Completed Application form
- When you have completed the application form and attached all your supporting documents, you are ready to submit your application!
- You will receive an e-mail that confirms that we have received your application. All the e-mails we send you will also be available on the Applicant Portal.
- We’ll contact you using the e-mail address and phone number you provided to let you know whether your application has been successful
Step 6: Accept the Offer and Upload Your Signed Contract
- If they make you an offer you must accept it by the deadline, and upload your signed student contract to register as a Matie
- If you have applied for more than one programme, you may receive more than one offer from us. You may only accept.
Stellenbosch University Admission Requirements
Before you consider applying for University, you need at least
- 30% for a South African Language of Learning and Teaching (English or Afrikaans), and
- An achievement rating of 4 (50% – 59%) in four 20-credit subjects.
