Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University has opened its online application portal for undergraduate and postgraduate candidates to begin applying for the academic year 2025-2026. The online application login is a data collection and processing system used for admissions. Applicants for the academic year 2025-2026 should visit www.smu.ac.za, the official website of Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University.

Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University’s online application login will be available beginning Monday, April 1, 2024. Using a mobile phone and a strong internet connection, you can gain access to the Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University online application login or portal. Sefako Makgatho University Online Application Login Open for 2025-2026

Sefako Makgatho University will begin accepting online applications from all prospective applicants for bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate degrees on Monday, April 1, 2024. Sefako Makgatho University will process all application forms received within the specified timeline for the 2025–2026 intake via the application login. All undergraduate courses will close on July 31, 2024, while postgraduate courses will close on September 30, 2024.

Dates for the Closing of Online Applications at SMU 2025-2026

All programs’ applications for the 2024-2025 academic year open on April 1, 2024, and all undergraduate programs close on Friday, July 28, 2024. Online applications for postgraduate programs, on the other hand, will close on Monday, September 29, 2024.

Because the university does not encourage or accept late applications, you should apply as soon as possible in order to secure a place for the academic year 2025-2026. To take advantage of this opportunity, complete the online application form for 2024.

If you log in to the application portal of Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University, you can restart at the last section you completed if you were unable to finish it, but keep in mind the closing dates. To continue with the online application process, you will need your student number and a 5-digit PIN.

Sefako Makgatho University prefers PDF documents, but doc, docx, jpg, jpeg, and png files can also be uploaded during the online application process. The documents should be certified at your local police station, and the certification period should not exceed 90 days at the time of the application. Application Fee

For the 2025–2026 online application, the handling or application fee for South African and international applicants is R300 at Sefako Makgatho University.

You are only permitted to apply for two study options. The first qualification chosen will be considered your first choice, and the second will be considered your second choice. You must choose the qualification code and name from the provided “List of Values.”

Undergraduate

Certified copy of your ID or passport document (compulsory).
Certified Grade 11 end-of-year examination results (for those currently in grade 12) or your National Senior/Matric/IEB Certificate (if you have already completed Grade 12).
Certified copies of your degree certificate(s) and academic record (if you attended or are currently a student at SMU or another university).
Certified copy of your marriage certificate (if applicable).
Proof of payment of the compulsory and non-refundable application fee

Postgraduate

Certified copies of the following documents:
Matric exemption certificate (including subject marks)
ID document / Passport / Work permit / Study permit
Diploma/Degree certificate/s
Comprehensive academic record (indicating marks obtained for subjects)
Certificate of registration with the relevant professions council (if applicable)
Letter of appointment as a registrar with a date of assumption of duty: applicants for M Med and M Dent students NB: letter from the employer, e.g. Hospital HR.
Motivational letter and CV (Public Health applicants only)
Medical aid (Non-South Africans)
Students with non-South African qualifications must attach a SAQA evaluation certificate with their previous degrees obtained

How to Access the Sefako Makgatho University Application Portal

To log in, click the username textbox and enter your student ID. Then, in the password textbox, enter your university password. When you log in, you will see a list of all the modules for which you have registered. Use your complete email address as well as your current password.
