When NSFAS will open again for 2024

NSFAS will open its application window to all South African nationals for 2024 on September 28, 2023. The NSFAS 2024 will close on January 31, 2024, and will not reopen until September 28, 2024, for the academic year 2025.

 

Is Nsfas accepting late applications for funding in 2024?

NSFAS does not support or consider applications submitted after the Closing Dates. Late applications are not significant under this method. The registration period for the 2024 academic year will CLOSE on January 31, 2024. All considerations are completed within this time frame. NSFAS reapplication is also accepted during this time period and will not be considered after the deadline.

Coverage for Nsfas Students in 2024/2025

Qualified applicants are eligible for the following benefits and allowances for 2024, which apply to both university and Tvet College students.

University Students

• Accommodation: As per the actual costs charged by the university (costs for private accommodation must not exceed costs for university residence)
• Transport (up to 40 km from the institution) R7 500  per annum
• Living allowance of R15,000  per year
• Book allowances of R5200 annually
• Incidental/personal care allowance of R2900 per annum for students in catered residences

Tvet College Applicants

• Accommodation in an urban area is R24,000 per annum
• Accommodation in a peri-urban area is R18,900 on the annual basis
• Accommodation in a rural area is R15,750 per annum
• Transport (up to 40 km from the institution) R7,350  every year
• Transport R7000 per annum
• Incidental/personal care allowance R2900 yearly
