How Do I Start A New Application At UP For 2024-2025

The online application for the academic year 2024-2025 at the University of Pretoria is still open to all prospective applicants. For the 2024 intake, the University of Pretoria will not accept hard copies but online applications.

Only after all required fields have been completed can an application for admission be submitted online to the University of Pretoria. However, most applicants must submit additional information after the initial 2024-2025 academic intake application.

You can start a new application at the University of Pretoria by going to www.up.ac.za and clicking on the application link. It is in your best interest to begin and complete your own 2024 application. You will need the following to use the Online Application System:

internet access
an email address which you can access regularly because as soon as you submit your online application, a student number (EMPLID) will be sent to this email address as confirmation of receipt.

After submitting an initial application, a grade 12 applicant must capture and submit evidence of additional examination results. For information on full submission requirements, applicants should consult the appropriate (undergraduate or postgraduate) Directions for Applicants.

You will no longer be able to edit your application once it has been successfully submitted. Your assigned student number (EMPLID) will be emailed to you.

If you submitted your application online but the status of your application on the University of Pretoria application portal has not changed as of the closing date. This could be because, despite providing additional information, you were still denied admission. This could mean you haven’t met the admissions requirements yet.

Contact the Admissions Office for more information, or check the online portal to see if you have left a required field blank. Make every effort to submit the necessary corrections before the June 30 deadline if you are applying for an undergraduate course.

Applications for admission to undergraduate studies at the University of Pretoria in 2024 open on 3 April 2023 and close on June 30 2023.

Completing online application at the University of Pretoria

For the application for Distance Education admission (Faculty of Education) please visit the “Distance Education ” web page before you apply. Different rules are applicable.
It is important to note that should you wish to study the selection programmes BSc(Arch)(Architecture) or BSc(Int)(Interior Architecture), you must indicate them as your first choice on your application, or you will not be considered for these programmes. It is also recommended to indicate the other selection programmes as your first choice on the online application.

Complete Your Online Application for the University of Pretoria for 2024-2025

Follow the steps below to apply or complete the online application form for UP:

Step № 1: Go to www.upnet.up.ac.za/psc/upapply.
Step № 2: Choose “Start New Application” from the drop-down menu.
Step № 3: On the privacy notice pop-up, click OK.
Step № 4: Fill in the blanks with your information (Personal information)
Step № 5: Check that the characters in the security code field are entered correctly.
Step № 6: Go to the Go tab.
Step № 7: A disclaimer appears; carefully read it before proceeding (Do not discard this page)
Step № 8: Fill in your information in the provided Dropbox.
Step № 9: Select the OK button.
Step № 10: On the next page, confirm your application and click continue to proceed.
Step № 11: An ID and a temporary Password will be emailed to you. During the application process, a working email address is required.
Step № 12: Start your application with this ID number and password by clicking on the link in your email.
Step № 13: If you want, you can create your own password.
Step № 14: To proceed, click the “save and next” button.
Step № 1: The application summary page is now editable. This is the application’s starting point.
Step № 15: Start and edit your online application
Step № 16: Upload the necessary documents in the proper format.
Step № 17: Pay your non-refundable application fee into the university’s official account.
Step № 18: If you believe you are finished, click the submit button.

For students from South Africa, the University of Pretoria charges a non-refundable application fee of R300. Any applicant residing outside of South Africa must pay a fee of $30 USD. If your household income is less than or equal to R150 000 per year, application fees are waived for students applying to study at the University of Pretoria.
