The UJ admissions portal for the 2026 academic year will open on April 1, 2025. This is when you can begin your online application process. UJ accepts applications for both undergraduate and postgraduate programs, so no matter your academic level, you can apply during this time.

Undergraduate Applications: The closing date for all undergraduate programs is October 31, 2025. Make sure you submit your completed application and all supporting documents before this date.

Postgraduate Applications: The application deadline for most postgraduate programs is October 31, 2025, but some specific programs may have different closing dates, so it’s important to check the exact requirements for your chosen course.

How to apply at the University of Johannesburg

The university has two forms of application, the online and the hard copy application. An applicant who chooses the online system will apply at no cost but pay for the manual application if chosen. Both methods cannot be used at the same time. Online applicants can apply to the university via the  University of Johannesburg Application portal. Manual applicants should download the application form from the official website here to begin their application process. Prospective students should submit the hard copy and proof of payment of the application fee to any of the available campuses, namely:

Cost of Manual Application:

As mentioned earlier, the online application for the University of Johannesburg is free of charge. However, manual applications incur a non-refundable fee of R200 for all new applicants. Please note that you will only receive your student number once the application fee has been paid, so make sure to complete the payment before submitting your application form:

• A certified copy of your Grade 12 examination results if you have completed
• Certified copy of your Grade 11 (if you’re in Grade 12 right now)
